Photos show three dead men at bin Laden raid house
Edited on Wed May-04-11 03:20 PM by steve2470

(Reuters) - Photographs acquired by Reuters and taken about an hour after the U.S. assault on Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad in Pakistan show three dead men lying in pools of blood, but no weapons.

The photos, taken by a Pakistani security official who entered the compound after the early morning raid on Monday, show two men dressed in traditional Pakistani garb and one in a t-shirt, with blood streaming from their ears, noses and mouths.

The official, who wished to remain anonymous, sold the pictures to Reuters.

None of the men looked like bin Laden. President Barack Obama decided not to release photos of his body because it could have incited violence and used as an al Qaeda propaganda tool, the White House said on Wednesday.

The photos mentioned are at the top of the article.

1. So an anonymous "official" sold the pictures. I sincerely hope the White House finds out who
anonymous is and metes out an appropriate punishment.

3. Really nothing they can do...
These bodies were left behind. None will be of bin Laden because the U.S. took his body before these photos could have been snapped.

On another note: WTF is up with the water pistol?!?

7. Maybe the White House can execute the guilty Pakstani without
giving him or her a trial. After all, the precedent has now been set.

10. Just because Obama didn't personally show you the evidence of binLaden's guilt-
you're happy calling him innocent.

What a tool so many DU'ers are.

11. I'm not 'happy'calling him 'innocent.' But I still believe in the
'presumption of innocence,'as quaint and obsolete as that may seem these days. I also believe we shouldn't execute people without first giving them a trial.

Welcome to my Ignore list.

4. I'll bet the source wishes to remain anonymous.
I won't be viewing the photos, and shame on Reuters for paying for them, then not revealing the name of the source. If they were given to Reuters, I could perhaps excuse their failure to name the source, but since Reuters paid for them, I can find no excuse for the secrecy.

Avarice deserves exposure, IMO.

6. Photos taken an hour after the raid, huh?
If that's the case, I'm not surprised none of them looked like OBL. I'll bet he was taken from the house within minutes of his death.

8. Well if Pakistan wasn't involved with the raid because
the U.S. lacked trust in them, would this security official have known that Bin Laden been living there for the past five years or so?

And if this security official did know and was sympathetic with Bin Laden and Al Qaueda, would he be so inclined as to remove any weapons that were there?

Thanks for the thread, steve.
