OK, some good and bad.

Yes, Ted is right that we did give the jihadi a lot of fodder. The Pakistanis will be able to say we invaded, although to be fair, they will also have to explain, after getting lots of support from the US, how come Ben Ladin was not only in the country, but in a posh neighborhood, neat 12,000 troops. The Prime Minister might be sincere about hating Ben Ladin, but it is sure obvious that some high ups did not share his opinion. If we had a terrorist living right by West Point in the same neighborhood a lot of Brass lived in, we would smell.

Yes, he became a martyr, however, he had plans for that that were long, long established. He gave orders for his bodyguards to kill him in the event of capture. When someone is willing to die, there is not much you can do to stop them.

As far as islam does not allow shrines, or islam does not allow gloating, sorry we have seen plenty of example of people doing just that. As the atheists would say, that is the classic "no true scotsman" argument; the idea that because the ideals state something, that people will live up to them.

There were many ways Osama Ben ladin could have been captured alive, and, oddly enough, empowered himself to work. He could have offered to surrender to gaddhafi, thus really putting the west in a pickle, or he could have surrendered to France, which means that the Europeans would have lived in dread that he, in their midst, could start riots. Laugh at this if you want to, but gangs like Ms-13 expressly make it a duty for their high ups to spend time in prison, as they have made it a base of administration. Ask any prison guard who hears prisoners brag about the fact they know all about their routine when they get home. He did not, he hid behind human shields.

Granted, if I had my way, I would gladly see Dick Cheney and W. join Osama in whatever circle of hell he is in, but I will not apolgize for being glad that the men is dead, and that despite all the halos and glory that will be put on him, he did not die like a hero. All this being said, we should have buried him..if the pakistanis dug him up and made a shrine, it would make our case better than any fatwa.

We shouldn't have violated Pakistan sovereignty? Why so the country that has been hiding could tip him off? As for heart and minds maybe Ted Rall should come to Dearborn, Michigan and seen the celebration in the streets I suspect that reflects Muslim opinion on the death on Bin Laden

2. His last sentence is completely true.

Unfortunately, the wall of text above it was the biggest load of garbage I've ever read. It almost made it sound like the Taliban is a noble enemy that actually felt bad about murdering people. Also, no mention about the frequent practice of dragging those sub-human women out into the street and shooting them in the head. Why is that, Ted?

We should have indeed captured Bin Laden. It would have humiliated the Taliban beyond belief.
