Just saying.

Though...if the Tea Party split from the Republicans, I would bet you money that Democrats would soon splinter as well...and before you know it there would be Tea Party, Republicans, Dems, Greens and Socialists...at least.

I can't help but like that idea.

2. It won't happen.
The Tea Party are republicans. There is no splitting. They are one in the same and will continue to be so. Because they are the republican base and the elected R's fear them and cater to them.

The only hope is to peel of moderate R's, but even that I don't think is possible because I'm not sure they exist any more.

4. The teabaggers have already taken over the repub party.
The few sane repubs will jump ship to the new dem party. After all, the new dem party has shifted so far to the right the past 30 years that it's not much of a jump. It's the left who are out in the cold with no representation. During non-election years, we are insulted & told to shut up & during election years, we are warned that if we don't vote for the lesser of two evils, it will be our fault if the rabid right wins. The net result? A further & further right leaning 'democratic' party.

5. Yes, we can see how well that just worked in Canada, where the conservatives
just won because the progressive vote was divided over several parties.
