Bin Laden Might Have Been Killed by His Own Guards
Source: The Economic Times

ISLAMABAD: Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden might have been killed by one of his own guards in line with his will to prevent his capture during a raid by US forces near the garrison city of Abbottabad in northwest Pakistan, according to a media report today.

US officials have said that the world's most wanted man was killed with one or two shots to the head when he resisted after American special forces yesterday stormed a compound near Abbottabad where he was hiding.

However, an unnamed official told the Dawn newspaper that mastermind of the most devastating attack on US soil "might have been killed by one of his own guards in line with his will to avert his capture".

"From the scene of the gun battle it doesn't look like he could have been killed at point blank range from such a close angle, while offering resistance," said the official who visited the scene of the assault soon after the departure of the US team from the compound in Thanda Choa or Bilal Town, a stone's throw from the Pakistan Military Academy .

4. This is one of those events that will be shrouded in mystery for
years to come. Of course, the WH claims they have it all on video, so one day it could conceivably be settled.

9. At the moment...
I lean towards the fact that our SEALs are the best sharp shooters on the planet and this "analyst" doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. We'll never know for sure of course. Either way, we know for a fact that he realized he was absolutely fucked when our SEALs showed up. He knew there was no escaping this time around.

You can run but you can't hide. I don't like the fact that we wasted $1 trillion on this with a couple of idiotic, full-fledged wars. But I am glad that we did not give up on searching for him.

While I doubt this telling of events, I cannot help but to think about Huey Long and how he was shot by his own guards by accident after he was punched in the face by accused assassin Carl Weiss.

16. No, that is not how it has always been.
Still, most of us know that when we see that in a news story, it's a good place to stop reading and move on to actual news.

For some of us, though, it's a sign that something nefarious is going on, just as we suspected, so we can use this unsupported balderdash to make some point or another.

Me? I look for factual information from real people, not unattributed nonsense that fills out a speculative story and makes it looks something like a news report.

26. That's true and the m$m relies far too heavily on them; but often they
are correct.

It's a quandary for the reader because the lazy "press" will always go with a juicy story. discernment is up to us, I'm afraid--and most of "us" aren't knowledgeable of how the "press" works.

11. FWIW, I'll take the US version over an unnamed Pakistani official
And what's even sorrier is that I'm not exactly sure who is more trustworthy on this, the propaganda is so thick with the US Administrations.

But for now, until more confirmation comes out, I'll stick with the US having carried out the execution. In reality, that they have admitted an extrajudicial execution deep into another foreign sovereign country's soil lends their version more weight. IF they are willing to admit this much, why lie about who actually shot OBL?

38. al Qaeda, unable to dispute that bin Laden is dead, floats this nonsense
It's sad to see a DUer as the unofficial trumpeter of al Qaeda propaganda, but I guess it goes along with the "Any Obama Hate is Good press" philosophy of the President's leftist (!) detractors.

50. I am familiar with how they would process the body for IDing purposes
and one thing they really would want to know is who's bullets were in his body.

Being fast does not mean they were not thorough. Part of the planning obviously involved having very sophisticated equipment on the ready to do DNA testing, dental x-raying or even Cat scanning the body and doing facial recognition measurements.

Who killed who is important in knowing how to deal with his people's spin on this operation and if they could, they would quickly extract the rounds if possible.

53. I never claimed this is the true version of the story.
There are a variety of stories out there. I am interested in the truth. The WH claims to speak the truth.

But, if the WH says something, they better know what the fuck they are talking about. It is one thing for an unnamed source to be wrong, another for a named official to be caught in a lie or giving wrong facts.

After all, we were told they were sitting there watching it unfold in real time. If they aren't certain they should kee their mouths closed.
