bin Laden's compound now marked and searchable on Google Maps(!)
Brian Williams was on Letterman. In the course of their conversation, Williams indicated that this million dollar compound, complete with a place to land helicopter or two, was a mere 800 yards from the Pakistani military academy.

So I googled "Pakistan Military Academy" Up came what I wanted, but so did a list of nearby "attractions". One was called "Osama bin Laden's Hideout Compound."

Here is a screen shot.

Along with the satellite picture, there are a series of ground pictures of the place.

I'm not sure about this last one, but it is in the group of pictures linked above:

3. It was in the Osama slide show, but didn't seem to ring true. I noted that in posting it.

5. For a place that is suppose to be worth over a million bucks
it looks kind of dilapidated.

6. Thats quite a spread...
Not exactly the "mansion" I was expecting though. Noticed the Satellite dish.. Think he had DISH TV? I bet he could watch CNN from there... He probably flipped the bird at Wolf Blitzer every night..Or maybe he watched Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly on FOX.. or (gasp)...THE ANIME NETWORK!!

7. Am I the only one who sits back and is amazed by Google Maps?
Little old me, sitting here half naked with a bowl of soggy Honey Nut Cheerios, has more reconnaissance capability than the OSS had during WW2.

Came here to stay for a nice tranquil evening. Some helicopters landed in the middle of the night, presumably with some big wig, and they shot off fireworks for nearly an hour. I wake up and everyone is gone. I did not get my free continental breakfast, my coffee or even my HBO fixed. I cannot even get my ^*$( money back. These guys just ABANDONED the hotel and went on vacation. STAY AWAY!

9. Is that the way they build houses in Pak? It reminds me of some poor guy who put up 4 walls,
and when he got some more money, he added on another room or two, and just kept ongoing until he had a big house. that's what it looks like someone did with the house in the pics. I sure wouldn't want that architect if it was really designed that way.
