Walker’s two-step – first demonize, then honor

PAUL FANLUND | The Capital Times | pfanlund@madison.com | (24) Comments | Posted: Monday, May 2, 2011 5:02 pm

State employees sent along this email from Republican Gov. Scott Walker today with wry comments after Walker, who spent his first weeks in office demonizing and vilifying public employees, now wants to honor some among them.

His note came headlined “Governor Scott Walker.”

Thank you for your service to Wisconsin. Our state is proud of the hard work and dedication you bring to your job every day. To express our appreciation, we are creating a new State Employee Recognition Program that will honor state employees who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

The program will have three awards. The first will be for outstanding customer service. We’ll be asking Wisconsin residents to nominate the state employees who have impressed them with outstanding service.

The second award will be for outstanding innovation. We are asking you to nominate your colleagues who have demonstrated innovation, ingenuity, and creativity in problem-solving, efficiency, and cost-saving techniques in carrying out their work...........................

I just came back from WI working on a recall and the more I think about it the more I think I'll be back there in November.

2. The award for outstanding inovation should go to the person who first
proposed the recalls of those AH Pub Senators, and the SEcond outstanding award should go to who ever first initiates the recall of Governor Walker!
