NOAA: Record 312 tornadoes in 24 hours last week
NOAA: Record 312 tornadoes in 24 hours last week

Mon May 2, 4:42 pm ET
WASHINGTON – Preliminary government estimates say there were more tornadoes in a single day last week than any other day in U.S. history.

Government analysts said Monday there were 362 tornadoes during last week's outbreak, including a record-setting 312 in one 24-hour period.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said the largest previous number on record in one event occurred from April 3-4, 1974, with 148 tornadoes.

NOAA says 340 people were killed during the 24-hour-period from 8:00 a.m. Wednesday to Thursday.

---------------------------

This is Global Warming, folks -- and it will not only include increasing numbers of

hurricanes, tornados, cyclones -- but also increasing severity --

Global Warming also means more earthquakes -- and increasing severity of earthquakes --

Earthquakes in turn generate more volcanic activity --

Do we think all Americans know or understand this yet -- ?

What if they did?

Meanwhile, there was a 50 year delay in our feeling the effects of Global Warming --

which we've known about since the late 1950's --

In other words, so far the effects we are feeling right now only reflect human activity

up to about 1960!!! Think of all that went on after that period!!

1. Not only a record number
but they showed up in areas around us that usually do not see tornadoes.
We had 3 strikes within 40 miles of our neighborhood.
From a very thin band of a storm, but obviously a very violent one in terms of wind.

3. Storm patterns change from time to time
If you talk to people who live around my area in the 60's and 70's there where tornado's all the time. I've lived here for 17 years and we've had one tornado.

2. People keep saying that this is because of global warming
ITS NOT!!! This is a La Nina year, that means strong storms more tornado's then normal and heavy rain. About once every 100 years or so, conditions are just right for a "perfect" storm. Its happened in the 1930's and it will probably happen again in around a 100 years. Its possible the global warming effected the storms but they where not the root cause. Please stop spreading false information.

5. Global Warming has the power to change weather systems -- including La Nina and El Nino ---
which were once rare -- once in every 1,000 or 2,000 years!!

What we know now as La Nina and El Nino is Global Warming!!

We've known about Global Warming since the late 1950's --

Scientists knew from the end of the 1800's that human activity was negatively

impacting nature -- trees, etal.

Take a look at the trees around you -- they're all but single bands of trees on our

highways -- yet they are the LUNGS of the earth!

Global Warming -- according to the Pentagon's warning to W Bush -- emphasized that

Global Warming was more of a threat to the US than "terrorism."

Also made clear that Global Warming would bring increasing numbers of storms, hurricanes,

cyclones, tornadoes -- and increasing severity of those weather conditions.

Due to the melting of the glaciers, we also have SIFTING OF THE TECTONIC PLATES which is

causing more earthquakes -- and more severe earthquakes.

Earthquakes in turn generate more volcanic activity.

Capitalism is based on the exploitation of nature which is suicidal --
