6. Trial? RW-ers were in a fury that Guantanamo trials would be held
in New York City in a federal court versus a military court in Guantanamo. Think kangaroo court followed by firing squad.

9. what a bunch of shit.
According to the reports Osama had a gun and was firing it at the special forces. Its not like they went in there with the intent to murder bin Laden. Their intent was to capture if possible, and to kill only if neccessary. Unfortunately, capturing wasn't possible so they had to kill him. I'm so glad to see that right winger our insulting our troops now.

is to a published story on Reuters. AFAIK, Reuters still enjoys a fairly high degree of journalistic credibility.

17. Um, the mission was "kill, not capture" according to Reuters.
Edited on Mon May-02-11 02:03 PM by girl gone mad
(Reuters) - The U.S. special forces team that hunted down Osama bin Laden was under orders to kill the al Qaeda mastermind, not capture him, a U.S. national security official told Reuters.

"This was a kill operation," the official said, making clear there was no desire to try to capture bin Laden alive in Pakistan.

12. They had to kill him
If they had captured him, terrorists all over the world would have kidnapped Americans and threatened to kill them if bin Laden wasn't released.

13. OBL is enjoying his 72 virgins right now ...
Look, OBL is probably in heaven right this minute, smiling, and enjoying his 72 virgins. I just wonder if they're pretty, 'cause I've seen a couple fairly ugly virgins in my time.

19. You do know that it's really 72 raisins, right?
The translation was botched, either by mistake or deliberately, you can argue til the cows come home. But the actual passage promises 72 raisins -- it's supposed to conjure up an image of the martyr's heaven as a land of milk and honey, basically. Lots of food, good times, nothing to worry about. But as for virgins, nary a one.

14. I agree with the caller
But I've always had a soft spot for the whole, old-fashioned "rule of law" thing.

I'm trying to get over it. Maybe I'll smear my face with blood and chant U.S.A! U.S.A! and see if that helps me feel better about this assassination.

I also wanted him alive. But you make an interesting point. Although I have a logical reasons, the right wingers are just spewing hatred against a Democratic president.

34. Solid evidence that partisans are amoral and will abandon whatever they espouse
in order to be contrary to the opposition.

It is all about "winning" and keeping out the "greater evil", what the "lesser evil" does or doesn't do is only important as a means to attack the other party.

The parties are a distortion and a pox upon our people.

Edited on Mon May-02-11 03:20 PM by nichomachus
He would have had a lot to tell about Reagan, Bush I, Cheney, Musharraf and the connections between him and all of them. It's only the knuckle draggers who are making this noise. The real right-wingers all breathed a sigh of relief.
