1. AMEN!
This morning, David Sirota said Bin Laden won in the sense that we have lost any sense of sadness at the death of *anyone*. On that, he is right.

You are absolutely correct.... there are deaths that never matter.

2. I bring that up
frequently when the cheerleaders are rah-rahing for the war in Libya. If they are so concerned about the deaths of innocents, one wonders why they don't care about the deaths of innocents happening right here on US soil.

7. You can't make an exciting hollywood blockbuster about health care...
that has a happy ending, lots an' lots of 'splosions, and is tied up neatly in 90 minutes.

America has become a vengeful populace, and that vengeance is also unleashed against its own poor and needy for their perceived failures to win at a rigged game.

10. Nice assumption, pal. I care about BOTH, and most of us do.

Stop with the broadbrushing.

That's what we expect from FAUX.

proud to be a "cheerleader" rather than a stamped-out carbon copy.

16. The outrage
at my comment speaks for itself. I suppose our resources as a nation are endless, and we can afford to do everything all at once.

I HOPE to GOD I am wrong, and we aren't going to see an escalation in Libya that involves our troops being deployed there. If I am, I will gladly admit it. I have to wonder, however, how many will be willing to admit they were wrong if it does happen, and the contortions they will go through to justify yet another war where innocents are murdered.

17. You DO realize you are talking about ME, right? Could you please turn down the vitriol, assuming
you want an actual answer to your question?

It is truly amazing that those who claim they are sooooo eager for "peace" cannot converse in a peaceful manner.

12. That makes absolutely no sense
I can care about both Libyans and Americans. It's really really easy. It's called "caring about all living beings". Try it sometime.

Also, if you come visit the Libyan revolution thread, you'll see that the posters are some of the most caring and empathic and actually progressive people on DU.

13. It's really, really easy
if we keep spending money in foreign countries killing people, we end up with more debt and can't take care of the people in our own nation.

18. Why do we keep trying, when it is obviously impossible to deal with tunnell vision and one-issue
people?

I guess :banghead: becomes a habit. A self-defeating habit.

PEACE.

3. I wonder how many times I'll see that specific framing today on DU.
I think this is the 3rd or 4th time this morning that the 45,000 number has been paraded out so far on DU.

I'm guessing its on a talking point list from somewhere.

19. You can't "parade" the truth.
And that number is the TRUTH. Those people die every single hour in this country because of repukes and the sick consequences of capitalism.

Where's the energy and mass enthusiasm to solve that problem?

THAT is the point.

Christ.

20. Yes, it's from a talking point list.
The 45000 per year number is the one handed out to support health care reform. Remember?

We can't ignore it just because it's inconvenient to us now.

9. I just home remedied myself through a bout of food poisoning
in order not to go to an ER. It was no fun, especially with the anxiety piled on top of everything else. It would be nice to have better options.
