I know that on the fast-moving forums like GD, kicking is a good way to make sure a subject stays visible - especially if it's a "Franken becomes senator" type thread that doesn't really need a reply, just visibility. But, are there any (un)written rules for slower forums? It seems - sometimes - that posters kick threads long after the discussion has died just for the sake of it, and it sometimes buries newer information. Especially if they kick a bunch at once.
Any guidance?
edit: It strikes me that the point where it can't be recced (so, 24 hrs) might be good cut-off.
BTW, am I right that you used to need an underscore instead of a space in usernames? I'm rather attached to it now, but can't decide if my memory is playing tricks. ;)
