What rule was I breaking by mocking a somewhat shady alt-med supplement company? I generally know when I've crossed a line, but this one's got me a big confused.

Also, is it appropriate to link to a commercial venture in one's sig line? Is "Help you won't get from your healthcare provider: http://www.lef.org/protocols" OK?

Could I have "For the taste of a new generation: www.pepsi.com"? Or "Dodge Trucks are Ram tough. See www.dodge.com for more info"?

1. The moderators read it as an attack on a particular DUer

not as an attack on an alt-med supplement company.

There is no blanket rule against linking to a commercial venture in your sig line. But that does not mean it's universally permitted. I suspect pepsi and dodge would be fine, but supplement companies might start to look like spam.
