This can be hurtful when read by members with family members who have developmental disabilities.

As a general rule, the moderators remove that word. As for this post, there was some hesitation because it was by a mother talking about her daughter. But in the end they decided to remove it.

2. Yes, it has been removed. And yes, it was a mother talking about her daughter, comparing

her to a person with developmental disabilities. Now, THAT can be quite hurtful.

Interestingly, the post was removed *after* the ATA question was posted, and that was only after two alerts - not close together - and each one included the statement about being hurtful to readers whose family member have such disabilities.

3. I acknowleged that the moderators were hesitant to remove the post.

Which is one reason why it may have taken a while to come to a decision.
