Locking this thread was strange...

As you know, I get quite a few threads locked. Very,very rarely do I complain when that happens.

However,locking this thread was a huge overreaction. I compared two separate storms that I've lived through, made a comment on THE ACTUAL CONDITIONS in my area, and nothing more in the OP. Some people took it differently, which, honestly, in the thread in question, I didn't understand.

Having lived on the coast for all but 5 of my 30 years, it does get very annoying when the media hypes us into a frenzy and we're told to expect "the storm of our lives" and evacuate our homes for storms that end up being, honestly, and I say this because i was in the damn things, blustery thunderstorms. That is an angle worth discussing.

We're allowed to hype the storm, but when it ends up not being as big and bad and those living in the area were led to believe, we can't comment on that fact? Also, if we're not allowed to make "light" of a storm, A LOT of threads should have been locked for consistencies sake. Here are a few:

The list could go on. And just so I'm not told that nobody alerted on those posts, after mine was closed, I alerted on each of them to see if this was a consistent rule change. As of my writing of this post, none of those other threads were locked.

1. Absolute consistency is not possible.

I wouldn't read too much into the fact that some threads got locked while others have not. The moderators I trying to be sensitive to everyone here.
