In the interest of avoiding a Rick Perry presidency
DU might want to consider rules against taunts such as:

There's a looooong way to go before the election. I'm already seeing tons of taunts like this, they're going to start getting really old and they could very well piss people off who might be reluctantly voting for Obama, turning them into people who stay home. And none of us wants that.

1. Yes, there is a long way to go before the election.
And already we've got tons of taunts from people claiming they aren't going to vote for Obama. God forbid someone actually point out that sitting out the election could have actual consequences. If I were you, I wouldn't want anyone pointing out that inconvenient fact either.

I have faith that everyone here on DU is smart enough to base their votes on things that actually matter. Nobody here is going to sit out the election because some random stranger on the Internet said something they didn't like.

2. the "Iif I were you part" is what i'm talking about
I voted for Obama in 2008, I'm going to vote for him in 2012, I've never said I'm not voting for him, including in the OP you are responding to, and I feel i'm getting told all the time that I'm helping Rick Perry win.

All these criticisms I have, the god damned Bush tax cuts and all the rest, I know I have no choice about it but to vote for Obama again, and it pisses me off. When someone "points out that inconvenient fact" as you say, all they're doing is rubbing it in, they're not informing me of anything.

Regarding what people base their votes on, smart isn't everything. Voting isn't 100% rational. I could easily see obnoxious Obama supporters losing some votes for him and I'm sure if David Plouffe could do anything about it he'd tell them to cool it.

3. If you're going to vote for Obama in 2012, then that graphic isn't talking about you.
I apologize for concluding you may be one of the people who was threatening to sit out the election in 2012. I incorrectly inferred that from the fact that you were here bringing that post to my attention.

As for obnoxious Obama supporters losing votes for him here on DU, I'm skeptical. It might be true if we were talking about a group of people who didn't spend such a large amount of time thinking about politics. Our members are all very well informed, and are unlikely to be swayed by something so superficial.
