Reverse ignore. DU3 might benefit from it.
Basically if you "reverse ignore" someone they cannot see your posts.

It was an idea that used to float around (and still does actually) on IRC, as a "well needed feature." If you ignore someone, naturally you don't see what they say, but they can evade your ignore if they see you say something they don't like. Reverse ignore prevents them from seeing what you have to say, and reduces their opportunities to make rude remarks if you say something they disagree with.

Yes there is an issue about people logged out or using sock puppets being able to "tell" if they're reverse ignored. But the current "ignored" system is no different, people happily reply to threads with "ignored" and say something about it.

I don't use ignore because for me it is silly. I cannot ignore people on the street, for example, but I *can* withhold my opinion from them. That's actually how real life tends to work anyway.

1. We've discussed this issue many times. And we agree with the basic gist of your post.
FWIW, we believe something like this could be done in a way that people would appreciate.

3. To clarify. When I said "we've discussed this issue many times" I was referring to the DU Admins.
It has not been raised many times in the Ask the Admins forum. You have no reason to apologize.
