Here's an example of what happens with threads being moved ---
in this case to 9/11 -- but in other cases the notice isn't much different --

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=125x314961

The OP began in GD, but notice there is no notation at the bottom of the thread that the

thread is simply being moved -- or where it is being moved to though that should be simple

enough to do --

Further, when if you have a reply to a comment you made on the thread and try to go back

to the topic, here's what you see ....

That kinda makes it sound as though leprosy has sprung up on the thread and certainly chases

posters away from the subject --

In the new design for the website, why not simply put a notation at the bottom of the thread

signaling that the thread is being moved and where to -- ?

And, perhaps also TRY to have the NOTICE also give a LINK to the new location?

Thanks for any help you can give in this regard --

1. Not sure I understand
The thread you linked to was moved from General Discussion. When that happened, the thread in General Discussion was automatically replaced by a notification which included a link to the new location in the September 11 forum:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x1075357

We've never put notifications on moved threads indicating where they were moved from.

2. Actually, it didn't happen that way ---
The thread was moved from GD to 9/11, that's correct --

However, immediately after if you had a reply to a comment on that thread

here's what you saw --

Missing Topic

AND THAT'S ALL --

No link at that time --

Nor any indication on the OP that it was simply being moved --

This is a common notification to find immediately when the thread is moved --

much later, you may find a link to it --

but by then everyone has given up on the OP --

Again, a notice like that tends to make people think there is something wrong --

they don't go asking questions about it, usually --

How about instead of "MIssing topic" you simply say ...

"This thread has been moved to the ____________ forum" -- whichever one it may be?
