Is attacking and bashing liberals now ok and permitted?

Hi, I have noticed a disturbing trend at DU. Where threads attacking liberal Democrats are not locked, and left to stand. These threads could be posted at places like free republic or right wing sites, they attack liberals. I don't understand why threads like this are apparently ok now.

I thought DU was a refuge for liberals and progressives and wonder if this new environment where those on the left are attacked and ridiculed is a permanent change for DU? And if so, won't this encourage those on the other side to come to DU and post about how much they hate the libs, changing the whole nature and mission of DU completely?

1. Things have been moving thick and fast around here the last couple days.

Things are not going to be completely consistent or fair.

I think those certainly could have been locked. But I also think they are not much different from lots of other stuff posted the last two days, by people on all sides of the issue. (FWIW, I should probably point out that they aren't bashing liberals, but rather a sub-set of liberals who engaged in specific behaviors. Not saying that is an excuse, but I felt it was necessary to at least clarify that point.)

I would hate to see DU turned into a site where you can get your hate on vs "the libs" with typical right wing talking points included, thats all. This has been happening not just with those couple of threads but a general recent trend I have noticed, where liberals are vilified. Kind of a bummer for those who consider themselves liberals to come to DU and see that kind of stuff.
