Last night what appeared to be a group of animal rights activists...

...did what I can only call one of the old-fashioned bully swarms (that
we're so happy to see are gone for the most part) on a thread involving
the "Meat Video" ad.

One of them, probably the most vociferous, even posted an animated .gif
(I assume from that same ad) showing a writhing pig getting its head
sawed off with a chainsaw(?). Extremely graphic, gory and intentional
showing of pain without any kind of graphic warning -- not a link but an
immediate image WITHIN the thread. This person seemed to KNOW that
the mods would let him/her get by with this without a TS'ing (I've been
told this behavior from activists concerning this particular subject is
very, very far from the first time it's happened).

He/she was also very abusive and disruptive -- stirring up others who
didn't agree with him/her on the thread in that old-fashioned "bully
swarm" way that we are so glad to be rid of. Some of them gave it back
to him/her -- but would NOT have without the initial provocations --
and it seems to me that that was his/her intention.

At one point the person "predicted' that the thread would be locked due
to "flamebait".

Nothing but a SELF-fulfilling prophecy that the mods seem to have been
all-too-happy to oblige -- telling the participants to take it up with
you. I am doing so.

My biggest question here is -- after blatantly showing such a graphic and
violent and fairly universally-offensive animation on this site... why is
that member still here? Will we be subjected to more of that? Will future
posters of such gore be subject only to having their post deleted AFTER
the fact?

My guess is that if a pro-lifer posted something similar having to do with
abortions, that they would become immediate history -- AND RIGHTLY SO.

There's no way to tell WHEN it happened, but I see that he/she now has been.
