republican state legistaor is a lurker here. May I invite him in for dialogue?

I was at a legislative forum yesterday and my local legislator mentioned that he frequently reads DU to see what is being said about about him.
I found out later that my name and DU name was posted in the local paper in an LTE so people could see how far left I am.
Since my rep lurks here could I use a post in the Iowa forum to invite him in to have some serious discussion of issues and to show that DU is welcoming and intelligent. (I can't recall the exact words he used at the forum because I was talking with someone else but I think he said "if you want to see real crazy go to democraticunderground.")
I have no desire to break any rules. This may fall under the heading of 'calling people out.'

As a rule, we ban republicans.

I tend to think the discussion you are proposing might not go the way you are hoping. Nonetheless, I think if a GOP state legislator were to post on DU, and were identified as such, and behaved in a respectful manner, we *might* be able to accommodate the discussion.
