I was shocked as many were on DU;
00When Arianna sold her online site to AOL. I am writing to you regarding the recent post;

'Strike Called Against the Huffington Post by Contributors.'

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=103x591523

In this post, Omaha Steve brings together thoughts from many sub-posters as to why Huffington Post's non-paid contributors are up in arms over the sale. The non-paid contributors contend they too should get compensated for their content as that was a major force in money changing hands.

I propose DU make overtures to the disgruntled contributors who went public so as to woo them to be contributors on our site. This may cause conflicts, although I'm not sure what the legal aspects of such a move might be. While this move might change how DU operates, feels and looks, I feel the added presence of the factors that made Huffington Post what it is and was would be a major addition to DU. DU is mentioned in the press. However, DU does not get nearly the mentioning of Huffington Post as the go to source of what's the liberal take on matters. I feel the new owners of Huffington Post will take the site's message to the Right, somewhat akin when Politico is mentioned as the go to site for political news in general. I feel the new contributors would bring more mentioning of DU from the press as the new go to site for liberal news and content. This would lead to a greater awareness of what we are and our mission to the general public.

I love this site. I love how the mostly amateur contributors post and re-post their ideas and research. There are however several professionals who do post here; The Frank Factor, Red State Update and Lala, just to name a few. I feel the added presence of the professionals who have made Huffington Post what it is, or was, would further enhance readership on DU: Or not.

I also feel the need to post here about Comcast and when it was in the news recently, particularly when it came to the firing of Keith. I believe the competitors of Comcast would profit from their advertising here as they would have a large and captive audience. I feel many on this site have a reason to switch from Comcast to another cable company. But I feel many procrastinate, as I do, and don't get around to a chore until it is staring them in the face. I think DU would profit by selling ad space to these competitors. These competitors would profit by their increasing their customer base. Comcast would lose a share of their customer base: A win-win-win situation: And again, or not.

1. We are currently redesigning the software from scratch.
Once that redesign is done, I think (I hope) DU might be a more welcoming place for people like this.
