I always hate when Obama talks like Bush about protecting the homeland. It only takes 1 person to commit an act of terror. Obama can't stop them no matter how hard he tries. Bush was just lucky. It had nothing to do w/ his policies. That's why I think CHeney is so outspoken. He knows eventually someone will succeed in attacking the US and he'll come out and say "I told U so." I'm convinced the GOP want an attack to happen.

We had a major attack under Bush's watch...when exactly was he lucky?

5. There's no way to make a democracy totally safe and keep it a democracy.
Another attack WILL happen, sooner or later, regardless of who is in office. I hope we react better than last time, but I'm not expecting it.

6. bush and cheney were fucking incompetent
or 9/11 wouldn't have happened.. They ignored the August 6, 2001 Memo and fell asleep at the wheel.

bush tried to instill fear and Pres Obama is dead serious about protecting the country from fuckers who bomb.

The gop may want to "impeach Obama" but they're not going to.

9. Unfortunately, a lot of people who came on board (were hired) when Bush & Cheney
were running things are still around...

Not a very comforting thought.

12. Bush and Cheney love to say there were no more attacks after 9/11 on their watch. That was luck IMO,
and not due to their dumb policies. Torturing people didn't stop attacks, it was luck. Some were tried and and some failed, just like yesterday. The Democrats didn't politicize 9/11, but u can bet the GOP will politicize the next attack if its on Obama's watch. Some of them are so disgusting. They seem to be upset the guy didn't blow up that plane yesterday.

13. That's true. The GOP is just waiting to destroy Obama's administration BUT
the GOP is not the only ones trying to destroy Obama. Look at Ralph Nader. Look at Jane Hamsher. They're DYING to destroy it.

17. Yeah, they can totally do that with less than 200 House seats and barely 40 in the Senate.
Oh, wait. No, no they can't.

21. They can, if they start standing for something.
They don'tt even have to win every point. They just have to try, really try. And not make deals with the devil.

22. Unfortunately, I'm convinced of that too
The INSTANT that a bonafide terrorist attack happens, Cheney, Hoekstra, King, et. al will be the FIRST people interviewed and there WILL inevitably be howls of outrage and calls for President Obama's head among the Republicans. There will be NO calls for national unity, putting aside differences, to say nothing for enacting new anti-terrorism measures or providing new funding for anti-terrorism programs. It will instead be 24-7-365 blaming President Obama and the Democrats, as well as calls for his impeachment- mark my words.

They can only have that after 2010, like if the progressives get their way.
