How, in the name of Reason, can I expect that of an other?

3. Odd comment to post on a Presidential discussion board

Obama is a hired Public Employee who needs to be held to certain standards because of the office he holds.

Beautiful premise. Wrong application.

What's next? Love the sinner hate the sin?

This is the PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES.

No one is everything they aspire to be, but I can tell you, MANY here would not be escalating war and selling out to corporations for power. Talk about low standards.

4. Wisdom lies not in what one knows,
but in knowing what it is that one doesn't know. Even the wise cannot see all ends.

6. Debbie "I'm gonna destroy Obama if it kills me" gives advice
I'm not interested in your one-sided view of the world.

When you mission is to exclusively find fault in one person, you will inevitably succeed in finding what you seek.

8. Oh no. He is accomplishing that all by himself.

I never wished the man destroyed.

I wish the pollyana Obama brand version was true. It's not.

And, one sided view? The truth is the truth. It is a one sided kind of a thing.

16. Anybody who posts here who claims to know the "truth"
is automatically suspect in my book.

You are one of the most biased posters on DU.

put my faith in you and then you betray me....I would have expected more.

10. Ah, the suffering of disappointment.
How would you go about eliminating that suffering?

11. Well....the first thing would be to never trust that person who betrayed
me again. That would prevent any future disappointment.

15. That is doubtful. Your disappointment does not arise from the actions of others.
Your disappointment is your own and arises from your attachment to a particular outcome. Until your attachment is eliminated, you will continue to experience the suffering of disappointment.

7. Meh. Tell that to your boss the next time
you're looking for that raise, or better yet, looking at your pink slip.

Performance by publicly paid and elected officials matters.

13. Yes, performance matters. And the enemy of excellence is satisfaction; however,
while in theory there is no difference between theory and practice, in practice there is.

12. In the name of Logic, I expect certain things in the people I vote for. If they
continually do things that horrify me after promising they'd do the opposite, I don't vote for 'em again.

It's not like "an other" gives YOU the benefit of that soft drink commercial sentiment.

18. Exactly. Imagine there is a wall past which you would travel.
There are several ways past the wall. You might vault the wall. You might tunnel under the wall. You might pick your way through the wall with a hammer and chisel. If you have a key, you might use the door and walk through. You might break the window can climb through. Your choice with depend upon many factors in the balance, including your tools, your skills, your knowledge, and the time you have to effect passage.

17. Not expecting perfection, I am expecting satisfaction. And I am not satisfied at all. And...
my wallet and voter participation will reflect that in the next election.

19. So, knowing what you now know, and given the choice between
Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin, you would have the latter rather than the former; and, given the chance to vote again, you would in fact vote for the latter rather than the former? Is that what you are saying?

21. When someone steps up to the task of being a leader, the rules change
Leaders are supposed to be better than the average schmo. I don't want one I can have a beer with, I want one I can depend upon to get it right so I can devote my time to going about my business, tending to my family and friends and doing what I've chosen to do in life.

Dumbing down expectations is an insult to everyone, and it's an affront.
