I didn't get the bill I wanted, I hope to see it improved in conference committee and revised for the better in future years, much like the Civil Rights Act. I do believe the administration COULD HAVE DONE MORE.

I understand that as "true progressive" myself, I'm in NO WAY obligated to throw tantrums and declare anyone a corporatist sell out DLC whore, just because I didn't get the bill I wanted. I can, but I won't.

I also understand that there will be a number of "true progressives" who will call me out, tell me I'm not a real progressive and act like I'm politically naive and even accuse me of being shill.

Being a "true progressive" means a lot of things to a lot of people and I believe one can be a true progressive and still support the President as well as our Congressional leadership.

2. I hope you guys turn out to be right and people like me are wrong
but I can't share your enthusiasm. I think this bill will not only turn out to be bad for the american people but also bad for the democrats politically. We'll see.

United Health Care, Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna et al. The Congressional leadership is going to get a surprise when no one sends them money or volunteers when they are up for re-election.

8. I disagree, but you made your point very well.
I don't see why we can't all disagree on things without being greeted by a shower of insults and unrecs.

I'm also afraid this bill is too badly compromised to be good for the American people.

For me, being progressive also means being socialist. I can't imagine any real progress until the people take control of the economy. For me, single payer was the only meaningful progress, and the public option was always a compromise. A bill without a public option, in my opinion, isn't really reform.

Thanks,
G1984

10. Thanks G1984
You are spot on, imagine if when we disagreed we talked to one another, not shout at one another.

I think the worst part of what is going on is I agree with many of the folks who I appear to be at odds with, I'm not at odds with them I'm just employing a different tact.

9. Me too
I'm sick of the "spineless" meme. There is more going on here than simpletons indicate.

I would like to know why PO did not push the public option but reserve judgment until I hear his side of it. OTOH, maybe I should not believe everything Lieberwhore says. He is probably lying for his own benefit.
