did anybody ask Herman Cain at the debate...
that if all these women who say he sexually harassed them are lying why did the Restaurant Association pay these women thousands of dollars and have them sign confidentiality agreements? (which to my way of thinking Cain has invalidated by his comments). And why did Cain resign from his position shortly thereafter?

1. Why bother?
We already know the answer and he sure as hell is not going to be honest in his response.

2. the media should still ask it and while he'll evade it--he needs to be asked these questions.

3. The crowd at the debate last night booed the one question someone dared to ask

5. That happened at least two times, right?
I couldn't believe these savage dogs could attack a Democrat for the same type of thing, but protect Cain. I guess if you joke around, you get more consideration?

The IQ in that room, last night, had to have been dragging on the floor. There were several instances when I just shook my head in disgust at the crowd's reaction.

4. People settle civil suit sometimes to buy peace - avoid the trial
If it's a jury trial, the outcome is unpredictable and costs of trial and the time it consumes make it worth settling.

But then if it happens over and over, there's smoke and that means fire.

7. Well, it was a "claim," not lawsuit. I imagine there wouldn't have been a trial, as such,
but some sort of hearing. I'm sure the R.A. would have rules and regs in place for the handling of such claims, and employees have to follow that procedure before they can file a lawsuit.

But in any case, yeah, businesses and people settle disagreements in order to avoid costly litigation or whatever.

But like you, it's been my experience that although ONE claim could be false, it's unlikely that the same guy would get hit with TWO of the same kinds of claims, without there being something to it. And if TWO filed claims, then I would guess there were many more that he harrassed who did NOT file claims. As we can see now in the press (relaying Cain's camp's allegations), the woman is often portrayed as a money-grubbing, lying, angry so-and-so, who for whatever reason is attacking that poor, nice man.

6. The debate was about the economy. The most that got asked was by
Maria Bartolomo (the audience booed her for it), when she asked that if character matters when you hire a CEO, wouldn't it also matter when you elect a President?

BTW, it was TWO women who made formal claims against the R.A./Cain for sexual harrassment, and then settled and moved on.

The other two or three have just come forward to tell about incidents that happened with Cain, although they never filed a claim over the incidents. They just moved on.

8. Maria Bartiromo got flamed big time
Her question was very reasonable and she asked it in a measured and non-aggressive manner. And the Republican crowd went Joe Walsh on her. These are not true debates when certain questions can't be asked and it's about time we began pointing out the fact that these are not debates.
