Rick Perry steals joke from President Obama that he once condemned

Rick Perry steals joke from President Obama that he once condemned

by Jed Lewison

Rick Perry yesterday, mocking the idea of building a fence along the border:

<...>

PERRY: I think the idea of saying, "Listen, I'm gonna build a double fence, we're going to put alligators between it, and we're going to put lava in there, as well." You know, one tries to outdo the other one. That's 2,000 miles.

President Obama making the same joke in May:

THE PRESIDENT: You know, they said we needed to triple the Border Patrol. Or now they're going to say we need to quadruple the Border Patrol. Or they'll want a higher fence. Maybe they'll need a moat. (Laughter.) Maybe they want alligators in the moat. (Laughter.) They'll never be satisfied. And I understand that. That's politics.

And finally Rick Perry saying President Obama's joke—the one that he stole—was reprehensible:

PERRY: This is a president who more interested in trying out for Saturday Night Live, it seems like. <...> We need this administration engaged, to be actively finding solutions, not standing up and doing Saturday Night Live comedy in El Paso, Texas and making fun of people who are putting their lives on the line. I find that to be reprehensible.

Does Perry realize that he is the joke? The ads are writing themselves.

Been in public office he whole life and is a multi-millionaire. Any conservative who would support him is a hypocrite.
