"WASHINGTON – Former Governor Mitt Romney resigned today from the board of directors of Marriott International, potentially another sign of his preparations for another presidential run.

Romney, who served on Marriott’s board for 10 years before resigning to run for governor in 2002, rejoined the board in January 2009.

Cui bono- I would think the beneficiary of a Cain collapse would be Rick Perry. But I don't think like a Freeper. After all, the eighth grade wasn't the longest five years of my life. But it's good to see them eating their own...

3. "The Democrats hate any principaled (Sic) Conservative
“EVen worse....Richard Marriott was former CEO of NRA.

Richard Marriott’s Father J. Willard Marriott was BEST FRIEND OF ROMNEY’S FATHER.

Mitt is named after J. Willard.
Mitt served on Board of Marriott hotels.”

Shocking, i tell you: shocking!!!

The Marriotts owned a restaurant chain for many many years. The J Willard Marriotts are Mormons.

Which Marriott is Mitt Romney named after? How do you get Mitt out of Willard as in J Willard Marriott? Isn’t it more likely that he was named after his father’s cousin Milton “Mitt” Romney, 1925–1929 quarterback for the Chicago Bears?

Does anyone here recall yesterday’s thread that this “story” may have come from some Arizona operative of the Perry campaign?

But what about the possibility of creating internecine warfare amongst the Republican candidates by Obama operatives. They are the ones who fear a Cain candidacy the most. If Cain runs will Obama still get 95% of the Black vote?

The Democrats hate any principaled conservative, and i’m sure the thought of a Cain candidacy has them extremely worried.

What's a principaled conservative? Is that a conservative who is a principal of a school?

13. The Freeper is right on the name issue, anyway.
You write:

The candidate's name is Willard Mitt Romney. He's one of those people (like Thomas Woodrow Wilson) who's best known by his middle name. You're right about the football player -- the "Willard" part is for Marriott, and the "Mitt" part is for the quarterback.

Of course, it's still pretty thin evidence on which to base an inference that the Romney campaign leaked the information. Also, it's not clear why revealing truthful information about an opponent is considered sinful. I don't remember any Freepers getting upset over the public revelations of Anthony Weiner's personal life (which, unlike Cain's, involved consenting adults).

And the best part...

If it wasn't for Marriott, I wouldn't have my, like, 15 copies of the Book of Mormon.

10. They'd never suppose Perry would do anything like that, would they?
Or Karl Rove acting as a loose cannon? Oh, no. Karl Rove would never, never smear a fellow Republican like that. Besides, if it were Karl, the story would be that the women were white and Cain fathered a child by each.
