Our President is doing his job. What a refreshing change.
Here's a photoblog of Obama doinng what he can to help the response to Irene:

http://theobamadiary.com/2011/08/27/national-response-coordination/

And as somebody said at Daily Kos:

Doesn't this just about sum it up? America, do you want a fiddler or a proactive president? God help us if we let another idiot Texas governor anywhere near the White House.

I, like most of rest of the folks here at DailyKos, have been disappointed in Obama, but we need to give him credit for being actively involved in (and trying to improve) the workings of our government. Nobody knows what disasters lie ahead, but it's imperative we have someone at the helm who actually wants to improve the effectiveness of the government rather than drown it in a bathtub.

I'm in. How about you?

16. Deflecting from what? You pissing on a thread by representing the
Angry suicidal Brigade with their stale one-liners,
who would rather see this country fall in Republicans hands,
than to ever acknowledge anything positive about this President?

23. Well ...
Both the picture of Bush celebrating McCain's B-Day as Katrina devastated New Orleans, and the chyron are 100% real. But I do NOT think that chyron ran under that picture (although in real-time it could have).

7. Crisis

There are a few other crisis' out there he isn't doing much about.

Obama may be a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them. He saw what happened with DimSon after New Orleans...the last thing Obama needs is for Toby Keith to be yelling at the TV, "President Obama doesn't care about white people."

I give Obama full credit for how he's handling this hurricane...I just wished he considered some of the other problems that are ultimately more destructive pressing. But trade policies, financial regulation and climate change isn't easy to see and turn into a political commercial.

13. Very low lieing fruit
After the natural and man-made disasters that have happened in this country over the past decade, a hurricane is mild - and emergency procedures should be in place...I don't think that it takes any particular talent to follow the pre-established procedures. As being in the path of Irene in New England, I can tell you that the state has things in place and the role of the federal government is limited. The political risks of Obama's actions are extremely limited and it's a great opportunity for him to look presidential...
