Just got a Call from the Obama Campaign
Edited on Fri Aug-26-11 10:03 PM by FrenchieCat
asking me if for a Donation.

Asked the caller if he had reached any members of the Angry suicide Brigade today,
and had they given him a piece of their mind about their opinion on Pres. Obama's
reelection chances during his calling session? He laughed and said there were a couple.

I thanked him for his hard work, and reassured him that i wouldn't be giving him a bad time, as it takes a lot of strength and sheer tenacity to make cold call and ask for money at this time, considering the economy.

I told him that I loved this country (I'm an immigrant), and that I believe that Pres. Obama, although constantly judged harshly by many, will have a great 2nd term as President. He said...hey, you are as determined as I am to make sure he's re-elected. I told him that if Bill Clinton and Bush Jr. could be re-elected to 2nd terms, I'm not sure why this President wouldn't be. That wouldn't even make any reasonable sense! He mentioned the Republican funding machines made unlimited by the Citizen United court ruling and Karl Rove's Crossroad group and said...well, its not going to be easy, I'll tell you that.

I told him that I had children, and because of them, I would be volunteering later on this year.
I said that I wanted to show them that the only way to make any changes to your life to better it,
is to do get out there and get her done, if you are able bodied.

I told him that I had gotten a 2% fixed interest rate on my loan modification and had nearly $90,000 taken off our principal loan amount; that one of my daughters had bought a house last year and had gotten back an $8,000 first time home buyer check. Also that as an accountant I generate payroll checks, and see clearly that people are keeping more of their money, and that I was looking forward to free contraceptives next year, for me and my 21 year old. I mentioned my brother, whose son suffered stage 3-4 cancer at the age of 18 months old and had been uninsurable for the past 7 years (he was treated thru St. Jude), who is now covered, and I had just visited with him on Tuesday.

These changes may not be much to some, but to us, they did personally matter.

I told the guy that certainly I expected more from this President, but that I would have to do what I could to make sure he is given that opportunity, and hopefully, we'll have a more progressive congress next time around, cause that Tea party craziness that we are seeing now has got to go.

I then proceeded to provide my credit card information so that I could donate on a 13 month payment plan.

I did it gladly (although, I'm relatively broke), because I have principles that dictates that I should do all that I can to make sure that the future is better than the present (and the 8 years of past before 2008) for myself, those I love, perfect strangers, and of course, for as many children as possible. Oh, yeah...and I selfishly think that it would also be better for the rest of the world. Call me crazy if you must, but that's just me!

1. Good for you, Frenchie Cat!
I always respect those who put their money where their mouth is.

And you have done that.

2. Good for you, Frenchie! I think it's cool you got a volunteer
who seems to be savvy, too!

Even though I get madder at him than you do, and I criticize him, I want him to be reelected, too. :hi:

And great examples you cited of the things that HAVE been improved! :headbang:

3. obama isn't FDR
Or even JFK. However he is the Democratic president I fought to elect. I still believe in him. And I will fight for him again. America is beautiful.

4. My donation has to be earned
And that has not yet happened.

I suppose I'll end up at least making a token donation, but anything more has to be earned.

18. Bad phrasing
Try to avoid using the word "token" when referring to anything regarding President Obama.

9. Obama’s Organize for America Orlando office opening packed

Organize for America – the grassroots-organizing, political committee offshoot of both President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election committee, Obama for America, and the Democratic National Committee – opened a new office in east Orlando to an overflow crowd tonight.

The crowd came in part to hear U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who is also chair of the Democratic National Committee. But most appeared to be current campaign volunteers or ready to enlist.

Obama would need it. Three polls in the past two days – by Magellan, Gallup and Mason Dixon – have him behind both nationally and in Florida, which is universally considered the most important swing state in the country.

This is not the campaign committee’s entrance to Orlando, but merely a short move, a few blocks down Colonial, in a quest for more room. Organize for America first set up shop last spring in offices at the corner of Colonial and Mills.

Last night it still was n o where near enough room. The crowd filled Organize for America’s new second floor suite of offices at 1516 E. Colonial Dr., as well as both the first and second floor lobbies.

12. I always thank them for their work. I do phone-bank, but not for funds. My thing is canvassing.
Canvassing feels so neighborly to me; I've been telling the party for years that we ought to canvass bi-annually, not just in election years.

43. If voters will get "upset" because of anything that I say,
Edited on Mon Aug-29-11 04:06 PM by FrenchieCat
they will have to suffer their consequences, and I don't want to hear
the whining or finger pointing at such time.

If one is not part of the solution, than one is part of the problem.

And the elections results aren't about me and how I made anyone feel, it will be about us all......
and I'm not sure that I'm gonna be able to do the heavy lifting
to carry you and all of those with hurt feelings, while you do nothing
but post about the attitude folks think should be demonstrate a la kiss ass category.

It ain't about what can folks do to make you feel good inside,
but rather it's about what can you do to save yourself and those you
"claim" to care so deeply about!

Knowing that if a Republican gets in office, there won't be enough money in our accounts
to save it. I'm donating to Pres. Obama's campaign in order to help those of us interested in saving us from ourselves and the irreversable damage that we would experience if we don't re-elect this man.
