Airman Who Said Obama's Birth Certificate Was Forged Not AWOL, Being Discharged

Air Force Staff Sgt. Daryn J. Moran, who's been claiming that he's AWOL from the military in Germany because he thinks President Barack Obama's birth certificate is fake, might want to check his own paperwork.

The Air Force says Moran (who wrote his opposition to Obama is "not because he's Black") isn't AWOL at all, but rather on approved leave status awaiting discharge, Scott Fontaine reports for Air Force Times.

"He is currently outprocessing for discharge from the Air Force which was previously approved by his commander on August 4th," according to a statement from the U.S. Air Forces in Europe. "While we are aware of the comments that appear on various Web sites attributed to Staff Sgt. Moran, officials with United States Air Forces in Europe will not discuss nor characterize those comments."

p.s. Sounds like this guy has issues with gays, Muslims, blacks, and women. Good thing he is being discharged, we don't need his kind in our military!

for failing to obey a direct order & disrespecting the Commander in Chief! The Air Force is full of Right Wing Evangelical Christian NUT JOBS so if he is getting away with what he did & just being allowed to get out of the military with full benefits it is a disgrace!

...But to be expected considering the overall hatred many have for our President! SAD!

3. well, he is being discharged, not retired. There aren't too many benefits he will be getting...

And the Air Force is not full of right wing evangelical nut jobs. Air Training Command, and I include the Academy in that, has a few too many, that is for sure. Not so much the rest of the USAF.

5. I assume you served in the USAF?

The USAF I served in was DOMINATED by Evangelicals! Even in basic training those who did not go to church on Sundays were responsible for cleaning the toilets & showers...That is by design!

The same at my permanent base...Airman who got in trouble for whatever were given direct orders to attend church two days a week. The squadron where I was started every day with a prayer & "encouraged" us to go to church. And my supervisors were always hounding me to go to church with them. The feeling was very clear to me & the few other non-Christians I knew that if you want to fit in your face had better be seen at church on Sunday.

I was stationed at Vandenberg AFB in California...The headquarters for Air Force Space Command.


The same applies to my brother who works in the BLACK WORLD of the Air Force...He was an F-16 Crew Chief before being selected to go black & he is a Christian but he was turned off by how Christianity was involved in everyday activities...No surprise as many of come from the Academy.

If the Academy is dominated by Evangelicals, and it is, then that thinking will obviously trickle down through the entire Air Force. I can't see how one could say otherwise.

The Army is just as bad from what I have seen from the videos coming from Iraq & Afghanistan, some US news reports (although not like they should), Al Jazeera & other foreign media reports & how they treated Pat Tillman's family...Sorry, but a very high ranking officer does not go on ESPN Radio & refer to a dead soldier as worm dirt for not being a Christian if the culture is not DOMINATED by that type of thinking. Especially knowing this was the same guy who lied on the 1st report about his death.
