Why Obama and the Democrats Will Win BIg in 2012
Edited on Tue Aug-16-11 06:42 PM by Solomon
"Jobs" is now THE issue. Infrastructure is crumbling.

Democrats have the money to propose job creation because the debt ceiling was raised.

The republicans, committed to the end to making sure that Obama fails, will vote against it.

This will be the straw that breaks the camels back and make masses of people finally get sick of "gridlock". After seeing the republicans attempt to snatch everything away from the common citizen, blocking jobs will be the last straw.

The only way to get rid of gridlock in the climate that we live in, is to give dominant control of the house and senate to democrats.

The deomcrats have to beat the republicans in introducing a job creation bill. That's why I'm hoping they have lulled the republicans to sleep with all this everybody is on vacation talk.

Whatever they propose, the republicans will block it.

2. That's why I say they have to be the first out of the gate with a
jobs bill. If the republicans beat them too it, the debate will be about the republican plan (cut taxes cut taxes cut taxes) instead of a real jobs program.

That's why I'm hoping the the democrats are snookering the republicans with the everybody's on vacation meme. They should be working furiously on a jobs bill.

4. Just to repeat, the debt ceiling was routine raised in prev admins,

5. Don't understand what you're asking. Why didn't Bush
do domestic job creation? Is that what you mean.

I don't get what you're saying. I'm talking about the government creating jobs by providing funding for infrastructure repair.

Not talking about privately created jobs.

Yes, that's what I was referring to. Sorry, I was bit off-topic. History shows us good evidence of creating jobs through infrastructure.

6. Also, some GOP are fed up with the Tea Poopers
and add the crap that is going on in Wisconsin and some other states in the mid-west.

I see this as being a big, big year for the Democrats.

My only hope is that "We The People" don't forget what raging lunatics the Republicans are....

I hope they don't forget for a looooooong time.

Someone needs to make a movie that we can replay each year to remind everybody that

to vote Republican is the curse of death!!!!

Then, I think, we can get something done.

We can make a movie where Bachman and Palin are the president and VP and they teach kids that
the Revolutionary War started in Concord, New Hampshire!!!

7. I'm telling you, them voting against a jobs bill will make it
impossible for people to forget who and what they are.

They tried to take away everything benefiting the common citizen. Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, Universal Health Care, etc. Blocking a jobs bill will be the last straw.

8. I say it is TREASONOUS BEHAVIOR
to vote down anything that makes Obama look good. What are we paying these people for?

I can't believe that they would go on TV and say that their main goal is to make Obama a one-term president.

Their main concern should be to make life better for all American people!!!

I can't believe they have the stupidity to actually say they are going to screw up everything on purpose and throw the economy and the American people on the shit pile just to make a political statement. this is not normal thinking!!!!!

I can't wait till 2012!!!!

10. Until now they have gotten away with it. But I think killing jobs
will finally do the trick.

I can't believe they have been allowed to get away with it for so long. But we saw the cracks start to open up when the public bashed the Paul Ryan plan.

They will no longer be able to deny to anyone, that they will take us all over the cliff, just to make Obama look bad. It's already been proven and they say that's what they're doing everyday.

How bad can it be when Perry, who once advocated secession, and not that long ago, can turn around and call Benake treasonous?

It's ridiculous and absurd.

11. Perry will snuff out shortly.
So they'll still be left with a weak field.

He's ultra religious

He's compared to Bush

He keeps talking as though he accomplished things in TX that he didn't

He talks smoothly but he can be exposed for the lies.

The fact is that jobs are very important and have been,
but not for REPUBLICANS, because to them, it is exactly a game
of politics.....that's the fucking point of the OP! Get it?

15. Thank You! NPR is discussing this now, and the teanutters are the GOP's own creation...
built on hate, anger, and distrust of the black guy in the WH. They have now become a millstone around their necks, but it's way too late to put that genie back in the box. The American people increasingly despise the assholes, and the numbers are bearing that out.

Simply put, they overplayed their hand or whatever mandate they thought they had. :hi:

16. in case you haven't noticed
Today is August 17, 2011 and the US economy is in the shit can. The election is November 6, 2012. This is a mere 15 months away. Could someone explain to me how some as of yet unknown "jobs bill" will have any real effect on the 9.4% unemplouyment rate we are currently enjoying?

17. In case you haven't noticed, you're missing the point entirely.
How can the President create any jobs when republicans are on record blocking every attempt to do so?

That's what the public will see. You can vote for the party that blocks job creation to preserve tax cuts for the rich
If you want to.

I think most Americans are gonna vote for the party that's trying to give us jobs and better wages. In fact, traditionally Americans prefer to balance power by having the control of congress and control of the white house reside in different parties.
The republicans have been such assholes that this time around, the electorate may very well conclude that they should give it all to the dems because that's the only way anything can get done.

Republicans will be trying to criticize dems for not creating jobs while doing everything possible to stop jobs.

If you can't see that, then I can't help you.

20. I have given my opinion
And thanks for for offering your help. I think that running on a platform that the pukes are mucking up the works is not in my opinion a very good platform. You of course differ with me and that's ok but when the pukes lay waste to us next year, will we will be still trying to argue that we have some kind of plan to save the economy? All I want to know what that plan is? Do you know of any canidate for high political office who was sucessful with the blame the situation on the other guy theme?

I understand that elections are not won by being negative but being positive when all of the news is bad requires having some kind of plan. Generally I keep to myself on this forum but one thing I have been consistant is making the point that if the economy stinks by summer of 2012 then we are in great trouble. We are, in my opinion assuming that the pukes are shooting with blanks when we point out their flaws. This is a mistake. The POTUS must do whatever it takes to get the economy moving, time is running out.

You make good points though.

18. Since when do voters have an intimate knowledge of what happens in DC?
They don't care if Republicans are blocking things. All they care about is image. Their candidates' images must be in line with what they believe. Republicans get this. Democrats (particularly the president) do not. Democrats need to act like Democrats. They need to come out in SUPPORT of SS/Medicare/Medicaid, education, ENDING the wars, INCREASING taxes on the wealthy, NOT cutting social programs, and a lot more.

Only then will we motivate our voters to the polls and make gains.

19. Uh... jobs has always been the issue since the beginning of Obama's tenure.
Sadly, Obama doesn't have much to run on there. Which explains why he's going to do this big jobs speech on Labor Day.

Edited on Thu Aug-18-11 06:26 AM by COLGATE4
(otherwise known as "put your finger in the wind and see which way is popular today") who will decide the Presidential election in 2012. Unless and until Obama makes better use of the megaphone his office grants hin to admonish the public, again and again, that the Repukes are the ones holding things up, there's no certainty whatsoever that after the October 2012 "surprise" these low-information voters will simply vote the Fox meme line. This of course presupposes that Obama will in fact do something designed to create jobs, as opposed to making pretty speeches about it.

26. I posted the other day that this should be the strategy. But, and this is a big but,
The Dems and especially Obama have to propose some BOLD jobs programs. It must be a central issue and repeated everyday. It needs to be a strong frame and played out in real time that the repubs are working against a jobs bill.

Is there any word that a big bold jobs bill is being proposed?

27. If you believe that in this economy Obama is going to win big in 2012...
..then you are well and truly deluding yourself. Perhaps your just living in an echo chamber, or maybe it is just a matter of getting whatever it is your smoking.

This is economy is absolutely flat lining and the President has been in office for 2 1/2 years. Blaming Congress might help some, but it's going to be a dogfight just to keep the White House and the Senate.

The Stimulus bill WAS supposed to be the job creation bill. Remember the whole "save and create xxx number of jobs" thing? Repackaging another stimulus (much bigger) is the right thing to do, but the very word "stimulus" is mud now.

2012 is likely to be a vicious, nasty, and very close election.

28. Lol. you say i'm in an echo
Chamber yet I'm the only one saying these things

Meanwhile, everyone on Du is spouting tv talking points and bashing Obama and the dems.

Pardon me, but that is the echo chamber.

Now, as to whether I am delusional, time will surely tell.

Everything has a tipping point. Blocking a job proposal will be the last straw.
