Poll question: Will W sell again?
Not that he sold the first time but it is worth asking.

We are talking about the "perception is reality" crowd who created the 10 second television clip and the stirring still picture world that has become our media today.

(p)Rick Perry comes off in the first 5 second as George W. Bush. If you want back story okay - he IS actually from Texas and he did actually go to school there. He had 2.22 GPA (W-esque) married his elementary school girlfriend (decidedly not W-esque) and was commissioned into the Air Force as a pilot (he was ROTC and this was 1972 when the pool to draw from smaller).

Will it sell again? They guy who sold the W (Rove) actually decried Perry's "treason" comments as being "too cowboy".

The immediate issue is not the nomination. They have to nominate someone who can have a chance to beat Obama. A tall order to start with but they can't walk forward they have to start at the end and figure out the HOW and WHO.

Perry just appears to be a caricature of W. Actually more authentic in his roots but we've "seen this movie before".

They once silent minority that is the Tea Baggers once dutifully were silent to their guy- W. Now they say that they didn't like him but they are clearly nothing more than cardboard signs that will repeat whatever Fox News says more than 5 times. Will they sign on to Perry? He is not a Tea Bagger guy as far as I know but a quick google search tells me that his support amongst them is "growing".

Do you think it will sell? either on a nomination or general election level?

3. My Republican husband, moderate, says no more TEXANS,
or "batshit crazy women", so who does that leave? Romney, but my husband isn't an extreme right wing religous nutcase (with a gay daughter?) As much as he hates Obama, he says he will vote Third Party (voted Perot) or not at all, before he will vote for "a crazy". Republicans may be happy with their base with these candidates, but they will lose the mainstream. My husband almost threw something at the TV listening to an interview with Backman on Faux News. Maybe there is hope.

5. You pretty much summed up what I was going after
it's not just the middle but the idea of W (and how they were sold a defective product) is a cringe-worthy moment for conservatives even those less reasonable than your husband.
