This is, after all, primarily HIS bill.

He was in favor of requiring citizens to buy health insurance from private health ins. cos. Check.

He was in favor of taxing health ins. benefits of the average citizen. Check.

He was not in favor of doing away with the provision that exempts ins. cos. from antitrust laws (this means that ins. cos. could get together and agree on what prices to sell their services for...something that is illegal for most industries to do...that's anti-competitive). Check.

McCain did really well, with Lieberman being his spokesperson. He got 'er done.

Well done, McCain and Lieberman! Well done!

1. Won't he vote against it?
He is a Republican.

3. He spoke against it when Medicare expansion was in there, but not since.
It doesn't matter if he does or doesn't. As long as the votes are there, it doesn't matter. Lieberman handled it for him. They are close friends. Remember .... Lieberman backed McCain (and his ins. plan) for President.

6. McCain will wisely vote against it.
Edited on Sat Dec-19-09 12:39 PM by Laelth
This is what he proposed, and this is what his masters in the health insurance and pharmaceutical industries want, but it shafts the American people, and he knows that. Why would he take responsibility for it when he doesn't have to?

He's in a great position. He can blame this disastrous legislation on Democrats.

Kill the bill.

Forcing people to buy insurance is no more the answer to a failed health care system than forcing people to buy houses is the solution to homelessness.

2. Pretty much all wrong
He was in favor of requiring citizens to buy health insurance from private health ins. cos. Check.

No, his plan didn't have a mandate.

He was in favor of taxing health ins. benefits of the average citizen. Check.

No, not the average citizen. Just those with high value plans.

He was not in favor of doing away with the provision that exempts ins. cos. from antitrust laws (this means that ins. cos. could get together and agree on what prices to sell their services for...something that is illegal for most industries to do...that's anti-competitive). Check.

While this is true, I don't think it was part of Obama's plan either.

McCain did really well, with Lieberman being his spokesperson. He got 'er done.

Well done, McCain and Lieberman! Well done!

McCain had nothing to do with this.

4. Ha. "Cadillac plan" was the term used. I guess like mine?
It was never defined, and that was a Democratic Party criticism of that part of his plan.

He spoke favorably of Hillary Clinton's mandate in her plan, yes he did.

5. Then why is he voting against his bill and agreeing with Dr. Dean to go back to the
drawing board?
