Time to bring out some Good ole Spirituals
Edited on Sat Dec-19-09 12:17 AM by angee_is_mad
listen to these clips and absorb the spirit. It doesn't matter what you believe or don't believe.
After listening and calming down, let's re-group and figure out how the anti-Obama (or anti-HRC present form)Progressives and the Pro-Obama (or passing HRC)supporters can work together and get er done.

Because it is getting Crazy in here and it isn't a good look. We do not need another Civil War.

Sing Sista Mahalia and pray for us and our President.

3. I think
alot of us are uncomfortable with the cult of personality that has always surrounded Obama. I didnt like it when he was my senator. it seems like half the netroots can distinguish between the President whom we tolerate as a decent enough choice given the Republican alternatives and His policies which we generally do not like at all. whereas the other half seems to think its all in all in it together you like the man and his policies

14. I never said I was
I voted for the man twice once for senator and once for president not because I agree with him 100% of the time but rather having a corporatist shill is better than having a GOPer. I am a true progressive Democrat, Which Obama is not. I like Obama as a person however I do not like his policies. this goes to the dichotomy i was discussing earlier

5. So many new members, with so little to really say......
Makes you think they were sent from above...down to the Underground.

Thanks you Angee, and thank goodness Liberals have an open mind,
and an open mind, and don't everything confused to only mean one thing!

8. What, exactly, is the "'er" that you want to get done?
Define it, and if I think it has merit, I'll let you know.

10. Sure it does.
What anyone thinks and feels matters, imo.

I don't have to agree with them to acknowledge that.

DU, though, is facing a widening gap when it comes to goals. Our goals are not the same.

Some of us have goals about issues that contradict the goals of the party, or the current administration, or the party's stated positions on those issues.

DU has always been a contradiction, calling itself both partisan and left-wing; those two don't go together.

So...if the goal is to achieve authentic change for the better by enacting goals from the left, I'm there. If the goal is to throw the left under the bus and claim victory for giving the center-right what they want, I'm not.

I'm pissed at DU and I unabashedly support President Barack Obama.

15. At home?
Not so much any more. I came to DU in late '02, registered in January of '03, to find people who weren't pleased with the selection of GWB, because I lived in a red stronghold.

I'm the "left-wing" part of the DU identity, but I'm not now, and never have been, a partisan.

So I've always been aware that party takes priority over issues at DU, and that the site can't be both partisan and "left-wing" at the same time, since the party is not left-wing.

I recognized Barack Obama as a center-right politician from the first time I heard him speak, and I unabashedly opposed his nomination because of that.

I unabashedly oppose his center-right administration, and have since he started making center-right appointments a year ago.

DU is not nearly strong enough in opposition, imo, because of the partisan stance of the board owners.
