5. of course they do. That's the plan.
Mitch has wanted to get Obama's name attached to entitlement "reform" since this started. That's been his plan since this started. He needs to diffuse the "Kill Medicare" bill the House passes a few months ago. We'll see if the Dems hang tough. I don't think that Obama will.

18. Yep. Mitch has been looking for a way out ever since.
I think he see's an opportunity here, & he'll take it if he can blackmail the president into taking the deal.

19. Ryan's plan won't mean anything
with a cap. That would end MC and SS completely.

9. When medicare, SS is discussed they MUST describe it as tweaks not benefit reduction or
medicare age eligibility. Raising the cap and getting rid of waste/fraud/inefficiency should be all they mean.

I think it's a messaging issue, because they know that would kill them in 2012, as it is killing the repukes who voted for Ryan.

11. You would think he would have learned by now.
You don't deal with bullies.

I was not surprised that he did this, anything to look like a victory.

13. There are no entitlements. We pay for everything up front. SS and Medicare.
The "government" generates no income. They take it from us.

The rich and connected have long been making money off of government contracts and inside deals. Thats entitlement.

22. Exactly bullimiami, I refuse to use Republican/Frank Luntz terminology to make earned benefits that
Americans have paid for, sound like something nefarious, like "entitlements." The Republicans try to make it sound like someone is getting something for nothing or someone's taking something that belongs to someone else. I know it's easy to do, but we must not adopt Republican speak or their re branding of things to benefit their agenda to confuse people.
