Sharpton: "Tens of people" turned out at Tea Party Rally today
Edited on Wed Jul-27-11 05:17 PM by EffieBlack
"Not tens of thousands. Tens of people. More REporters than SUPporters. And yet THEY're the ones dictating the conversation and holding the country hostage."

And then to Judson Phillips, Tea Party leader, who had just said, "The Tea Party Movement has a message for Washington": "Judson, there's one suggestion I'd give you. If you want to give them a lesson, you might want to bring some people. Did you see the rally y'all had today? I mean, Judson, that was embarrassing!"

Tell it, Rev!

1. It's about goddamned time someone points this out on the TeeVee
Apparently most people are too stupid to understand the tea party is a holographic projection by the GOP and a tiny, tiny minority consisting of the most right-wing lunatics.

2. He really laid into him
Kept telling him that the Republicans were playing the Tea Party for fools - using them to protect rich folks and then kicking them to the curb.

4. THAT is an important meme to give some traction to.
This is a replay of the Civil War, when poor whites went out to protect the right of the rich to own slaves!

9. How'd Judson take that?
That was the exact moment our Galtian overlords at Comcast decided to pull the plug on the whole neighbourhood.

11. He didn't really get an opportunity to say anything
'cause the Rev Al was having a come to jeebus meeting; however, he did look like he'd just been run over by a freight train! It was a thing of beauty and a joy forever!

12. I almost spit out my soda when Rev said, "Judson, that's embarrassing!"
Like he really felt sorry for him and was trying to get him to understand that "THEY ARE PLAYING YOU!"

13. Rev Al must be part cat.
He seems to really enjoying playing with his main course before he despatches it to the hereafter.

5. If the said "rally" was here in D.C., there were plenty more tourists on the mall
than anyone else. The Teabagger "movement" is a fucking joke, and the Corporate Media is to blame for hyping it up and giving it all this attention.

19. There is no tea party.
These are the same 8-10% of the extreme right wing low information followers of the republican party. These dumb shits are nothing new. They are old, white, racist, sexist, and dumber than a sack of hammers. They would gladly put on brown shirts, arm bands, burn crosses and call themselves real patriots. They have always been and will always be republicans.

The real question is - why is this "tea party" narrative so important to the Washington press corps? Just exactly who or what does this narrative serve?
