Obama furious as Boehner walks away from debt talks
Source: San Francisco Chronicle

Hopes for a historic budget deal to increase the federal debt limit unraveled Friday when House Speaker John Boehner abruptly withdrew from talks, provoking a furious response from President Obama, who summoned political leaders for an emergency meeting.

"We have now run out of time," Obama said, demanding that the Democratic and Republican leaders of Congress convene at the White House today to explain what they will do to avoid default.

Boehner, of Ohio, who has been under enormous pressure from the conservatives in the House Republican majority, blamed the breakdown on Obama's insistence that any deal include new revenues as well as spending cuts. Boehner said the two had "different visions of our country."

The end of the Boehner-Obama talks means that the effort to prevent a default will enter a new phase. Instead of using the crisis of a debt ceiling deadline to force both sides to devise a large-scale deficit reduction package, the emphasis now will be on simply ending the crisis before Aug. 2, which the White House and the Republican leadership have said is essential.

4. Fold? Who keeps on walking away because they are bleeding support?

Yet, we are admiring Republicans for their leadership and calling President Obama weak? Really?

Up is down when Cantor attacks Boehner who attacks McConnell who is attacked by DeMint.

3. Finally, the Boner tells the truth: Boehner said the two had "different visions of our country."

6. Wow, So When Cantor Backstabs Boehner Who Backstabs McConnell..
...Who Gets In A Tussel with DeMint, this all a strategy to humiliate President Obama and make him look weak? Finally, the dramatic walking away from talks by Coburn, Cantor, Boehner (twice), are supposed to make President Obama look weak and the Republicans strong?

I guess we do have to Blame Democrats, and Give Republicans a Free Pass, as the Wall Street Journal's Karl Rove tells us to do.

My take is that President Obama cannot resign himself to being the first President to suffer a default. If anything, he was hoping that Republicans would care more about their country than some silly pledge to some fat dude with a beard. Silly him. He should have just gave up a long time ago, walked away from the talks, and dramatically quit, because that is how you show leadership.

Look at Sarah Palin! She quit because she is a winner!

7. Boehner needs to keep on walking
if Boehner cannot muster the will to negotiate
then he should resign. He's an utter failure.
