If President Obama praises it, the Teabagger House will not vote for it.

Here's more proof of this tried and true adage:

Washington (CNN) -- The burst of enthusiasm Tuesday for the "Gang of Six" debt reduction plan as a possible way out of the debt ceiling crisis appeared to fade Wednesday as Democratic and Republican lawmakers studied and found fault with the details of the proposal.

Most notably, both sides highlighted well-worn party-line divisions: conservatives complained the plan would raise taxes while liberals warned it would cut entitlement benefits.

Hey, don't look now, but Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is playing along with President Obama's rope-a-dope strategy!

Despite some strong pushback from liberal groups and labor unions to the proposed changes to entitlement programs, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi seemed to leave the door open to the plan, telling reporters, "We haven't seen it but it has some good principles in it."

Psst! Any plan President Obama, much less Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, likes... is not going to get votes from Republicans. It's that simple.

House GOP aides... privately cringed when President Barack Obama endorsed the proposal on Tuesday, because his very public embrace makes it even tougher to sell to House conservatives.... Ohio Republican Jim Jordan, leader of a large block of House conservatives, dismissed the proposal... "Forget the 'Gang of Six,' let's go with the 'Gang of 234,' " Jordan said, referring to the winning number of votes for the measure. He said the "Gang of Six" plan was a nonstarter for him and for the members of the Republican Study Committee.

What about Mitch McConnell's plan, you may be wondering? Well, since President Obama said he'd consider a short-term deal, that's now out of the question with Republicans, too.

With growing signs that the monthslong work would not provide the key to avoiding default, Democratic and Republican leadership aides in the Senate sought to turn attention back to a last-ditch plan developed by Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell.... even that backup proposal appeared in trouble as Republicans continued to say it would not get the votes needed to pass the GOP-controlled House.

Lawrence O'Donnell's is so-o-o right. President Obama really is the most masterful President ever at rope-a-dope against the opposition party: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/07/12/993754/-Lawrence-ODonnell:-What-you-are-seeing-is-the-most-masterful-rope-a-dope-ever-seen-by-a-president

Republicans look more and more like spoiled whiny brats unable to make a simple one-sentence decision as raising the debt ceiling has always been historically done, while the oh-so-grownup and reasonable President and his top allies in Congress look more electable by the day. :D

9. I've seen the "Gang of Six" plan. It sucks. Obama more or less
endorses it, therefore, he sucks. If the Teabaggers vote against it just because Obama is for it, then they are unwittingly serving MY interests. GOOD! I already know they suck. But, in this case, GO TEABAGGERS! It's kind of like rooting for your least favorite football team when, if they win the last game of the season, your team will make the playoffs.

Politics makes strange bedfellows.

3. I'm counting on the House teabaggers to just say no. They promised!
They along with the Progressive Caucus (my this does make strange bedfellows!) and anybody else they can convince will stop this mess in its tracks.

5. That's what crossed my mind when I heard Obama endorse something he didn't read.
I was like no.1 He's doing this because at least something bipartisan was done. And secondly, shit won't pass because that would be like marrying Obama for the Teathuglicans.

8. So you're contending, and celebrating the fact that he lies
lies multiple times,
to everybody

and that this multi-dimensional, rope-a-dope, grand master chess game...

(And what? Spin it as Bobby Fisher against one as astute as Sarah Palin or Barbie Bachman?)

...of agreeing with the Repukes
so they'll then reject what they really want

Thus THAT is perfectly OK, legitimate, moral, honorable, good for we U.S. citizens
and, of course, well-planned out in advance -- like a MILLION moves in advance?

Yay!

Yes, it is quite clear you all are too clever for us silly persons!

10. That's a false statement. You have created a strawman argument.

11. No, it is no strawman
Edited on Thu Jul-21-11 09:46 PM by Cherchez la Femme
It may be misunderstood in that your contention truly is he MEANS all his agreements with the Republican Party.

Is that what you mean? Truly?

You said: "If President Obama praises it, the Teabagger House will not vote for it." did you not?
Implying that this is a very savant-like tactic,
especially taking into consideration all the other 'superintelligent Obama' threads as is your want to post.

It's either one or the other: he either is tricking them or he means exactly what he says.
strikethrough: You protest here it is not the 'rope-a-dope' so it must be the other, no? /strikethrough

Those are the only two possible extrapolations.

Edit: Sorry, I take that back. You actually come right out and SAY it:

"...Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is playing along with President Obama's rope-a-dope strategy!"

::::From here on, please take redacting as de riguer, given your quote within your OP. I really don't care to waste more time on such foolishness::::

If not meant, pray tell what was your purpose to put forth the effort to say those types of things at all?

As for your : nopity :, what exactly does this non sequitur have to do with your, or my, post?

Curiouser and curiouser...

12. I'm deeply offended by this:
"Hey, don't look now, but Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is playing along with President Obama's rope-a-dope strategy!"

Please don't refer to yourself as a dope. It's insulting. You deserve better.
