It is what I can afford right now.

He is the only thing between us and the barbarians.

2. Back in 2008, I was in the habit of giving him $100 every time something big happened.
When he won Iowa. When he lost Texas. When McCain chose Caribou Barbie as his running mate. Ended up giving Obama roughly $1400 last cycle. I wish I could give him even $100 this time. But it's a Republican economy, and I'm still twenty bucks from disaster.

11. Yup, it seems the executive branch
Edited on Wed Jul-13-11 10:51 PM by stuckinarut
Has become a haven for rogue criminal enterprises to obfuscate and redefine laws, regardless of political affiliation.

One of my concerns with the hooplah about the McConnell deal is I just don't see how giving the Executive the power to set their own debt limit is a good thing.

Seems ANTI democratic to me.

But then again...I guess a win is a win right, even if you don't really win.

And that's how we know the system is flawed beyond repair.

12. And just so everyone knows, these are 2008 numbers. Wanna try again?
from the link you provided:

"This table lists the top donors to this candidate in the 2008 election cycle. The organizations themselves did not donate , rather the money came from the organization's PAC, its individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals' immediate families. Organization totals include subsidiaries and affiliates."

Did you think you could pull one over?

I don't support murderers. Sorry, I didn't know Vermont had taken a poll on that...

Hope and Change my ass. You know just as well as I do how closed off Mrs. Obama's visit to Burlington was.

$5k a plate, no press allowed...Amazing to see you defending this man.

Last time I checked, Vermonters did not support big money wall st., war mongering candidates who bomb civilians...

I guess I'm not as Vermont as you.

30. aw... don't be so sensitive
Vermont is just a state of mind and it can be very schizophrenic... my roots are long though...

I will defend my President, especially against treasonous Republicans. I am as disappointed as many here but I also live in the real world and know what we are up against. I want Barack Obama to be the one to choose the next Supreme Court Justice and I want him in charge when we have strategic dealings with other nations...

my Utopia doesn't exist yet...

40. I don't think the poster was asking you about "your feelings" or unsubstantiated speculation
about who'll win the money race, or where the money will come from, but I certainly understand your desire to change the subject. I think he/she was asking that you acknowledge his/her post, and perhaps apologize for posting outdated & misleading information. Now you can choose to keep digging that hole deeper, but it's a matter of credibility at this point.

You can either admit you made the shit up, or you can concede that 98% of this quarter's campaign haul came from donors (like myself) contributing less than $250; for an average donation of $69. Or you can persist with outdated rightwing/FDL talking points. I think I could respect your point of view a bit more if you were willing to admit that you may have spoken hastily, or out of ignorance of the facts, and made an outrageous claim that can't be substantiated. :hi:

33. You mean you didn't check all that before posting this outdated 3 yr. old crap?
How "honest" of you. Everything you've said after that misleading & dishonest post calls your own integrity into question. You don't make up shit to win an argument, especially if you want to be taken seriously.

I asked you specifically about the 260,000 new small donors and you put up some shit that's 3 yrs. old? You posted all the company names, but you neglected to point out that these were employees of said companies. Everytime I've made an online donation, I've had to disclose my occupation and the name of my employer. And that's exactly what happened with the donors you posted.

You may have legitimate complaints, but if you need to lie & mislead to make your point, what differentiates you from Fox News?

37. Ignorant overanalysis thats been thoroughly debunked here a thousand times.
Everyone has to to report their employer. I did when I contributed. Everyone else does when they do. These are big companies. They hire a LOT of fucking people. A LOT of fucking people contributed to Barack Obama in 2008. Stop the foolishness and do the god damn math and see how that likely turns out.

13. Anybody who gives a damn about this country needs to make sure
they do whatever they can to keep this bunch of repukes from getting absolute power. Seriously folks. This isn't joke anymore. Anybody who says "there's no difference" between Obama and Boehner/McConnell/Cantor IS A FOOL.

I really hope that in the future the Republican Party becomes more like it used to be and less apeshit crazy. But for now....this is like, seriously DO NOT HAND THESE PEOPLE THE KEYS TO THE CAR. DO NOT.

22. I gave $20 a couple weeks ago but after...
Hearing about Obama laying down the law to Eric Cantor I think I can afford to send another donation this week!

You are 100% correct about he is the ONLY thing standing between us & the BARBARIANS! The GOP literally wants to TAKE AMERICA BACK to the 19th Century in many ways & it not only makes me very mad but very worried! I know many people here on DU want Obama to lose in 2012 so they can feel empowered but I think that is foolish! The changes we want as Progressives will take time & they hate hearing that but we did not get in this shape over night! And part of the reason is the GOP sticks together regardless but we tend to get mad & stay home or vote for a candidate that will not win & end up putting folks like Bush in office!
