Ten Days That Won't Shake The Wingnuts
WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama says he and Congress "need to" agree on a budget deal in 10 days in order to meet an Aug. 2 deadline to increase the nation's debt ceiling and avoid a potentially calamitous government default.

Obama spoke as he and the eight top House and Senate leaders assembled at the White House for a rare Sunday session to negotiate the terms of a deficit reduction package.

The meeting came a day after House Speaker John Boehner abandoned efforts to bargain for a $4 trillion, 10-year debt trimming agreement. Boehner said a smaller deal that would reduce the deficit by about $2.4 trillion over the next decade was more realistic.

During the 90-minute session, Obama pressed for the $4 trillion deal that congressional Republicans have rejected, arguing that a more modest approach would be equally hard to negotiate.

Mr. President, I respectfully suggest, sir, that you're still not "getting" it: The Republicans don't WANT a solution! They WANT the country to crash, and they WANT to pin it on YOU!

My fear, based upon your casual attitude thus far regarding GOP smear & fear tactics, is that they shall succeed.. Again.

1. He knows what they are trying... he's making sure that when it happens, blame goes to them

He's knows they want to crash the economy.

Right now he's posturing to make sure the American people pin it (rightfully) on the GOP.

2. We'll see about that in 10 days, won't we?
You really think he hasn't put any thought into the plan of action to take if they don't comply by then?

3. Obaman knows what the Republicans are doing...
We should all quit assuming he doesn't understand as if he is some sort of naive genius.

He also knows that if he gives up now, it will look bad and he will be blamed for it.

So he keeps trying to get people to come to an agreement, even though it does no good.

I think at the last minuted, the Republicans will grant a small increase in debt ceiling and dare him to veto it as he said he would. They want him to veto it, because then they can say they passed a bill and Obama destroyed the economy.

I think the will run out the clock and if the Republicans have not passed a bill, he will use the Constitutional option and see how that plays out.
