1. This will be my twins first chance to vote
They know who to vote for. My oldest daughter shook Obama's hand and spoke to him in Albuquerque, and she'll vote for him too. And with Jeannie and me, that makes five votes in my family.

12. So, when the first female president is elected - no one should talk about it?
Because gender shouldn't matter?

Of course when VOTING skin color and gender and sexual preference, etc should not matter at all, but when history is made it will be talked about!

30. Some people get to have a "preference", some do not.
I tend to hear "preference" and think "Oh, they realize they're bisexual, but don't realize that some people aren't, and don't really have any kind of preference or choice in the matter".

It kind of takes the sting out of it. ;)

GOTV because Obama will make history because he is African-American.

Mentioning the fact, after it has happened and as part of history is one thing, GOTV because he will be the first African-American is different.

See the difference, why bring up race instead of accomplishments?

You are questioning my motives, which is against DU rules.

I wanted to post what I said in the OP's title.

I didn't want to leave the text box empty so I added a reminder to help get everyone registered.

And as most people know, every time someone posts a list of Obama's accomplishments we get attacked.

So, if you have a problem with the OP just ignore it :)

Edited to add:
And if you want to see a list of Obama's accomplishments it is right there on the link that is at the bottom of the OP automatically put there as my signature line.

It is belittling to a large portion of our population who have met with egregious personal obstruction in this country for over two centuries.

It shouldn't matter, but it damn well does. Maybe in another 100 years or so your remark would be valid.

It shouldn't matter if he's male or female either, or if he's gay... it shouldn't, but it does. If a woman or a gay person becomes president someday, I'm shouting it out!! And rightfully so.

53. The color of ones skin "entitles" one to the presidency now?
Is that the "change" we have been waiting for? Pretty pathetic. And ironic, since Obama is looking to cut entitlements. Wonder how he would feel about getting his "entitlement" cut? History has already been made. Maybe it's time for others, to get their shot at it. Then we could witness more history.

56. Really? Look again
Not a Democratic president headed for re-election. You're the one that added African American. Not me.

And as far as telling me what I can or cannot say...forget that...who do you think you are? I'm a voter same as you, and sorry if I wasn't interested in that post to give a "birthday present" to a millionaire like Obama, when there are a lot of elderly truly suffering, on fixed incomes, with no increase in SS but an increase in their payments to Medicare, and everything else they have to purchase just to survive. He's well off, they aren't. I suggest you take up your concerns about cuts with Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic caucus, because they are saying loud and clear what they will not do. "Reminding him". is how the Democratic caucus puts it. I also remember how "against" Obama was extending tax cuts for the rich, until he did.

House Democrats: No dice on Medicare, Social Security cuts

Congressional Democrats, frustrated that President Obama is including entitlement changes in debt negotiations, pushed back Friday, insisting they will not support any benefit cuts to Medicare or Social Security.

They also reminded the White House it should heed their concerns if it wants to get Democratic votes necessary to pass any agreement.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who had a one-on-one meeting with the president Friday morning, told her caucus she reminded Obama that Democrats oppose any reductions in benefits for these government programs that serve as safety nets for the elderly, poor and disabled.

"We are not going to reduce the size of the deficit or subsidize tax cuts for rich, on the backs of America's seniors," Pelosi said at a Capitol Hill news conference.
