GOP Sen. Pat Roberts: Obama should "take a valium and calm down"
GOP Sen. Pat Roberts: Obama should "take a valium"

At the news conference, Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah complained that Mr. Obama has been unwilling to have a conversation with Republicans about his "plea to raise hundreds of billions of dollars in new taxes on job creators." Mr. Obama said Wednesday that Republican opposition to tax increases on "corporate jet owners" and other wealthy individuals as part of a deal to raise taxes is not sustainable.

Roberts' suggestion that Mr. Obama take Valium, a drug often proscribed to relieve anxiety, then followed.

"Maybe if he would just take a Valium and calm down and come on down and talk to us it might be helpful," said Roberts, who added that Mr. Obama's last meeting with Republicans was simply a "lecture."

7. We've always had political scum, especially in that party.
But scum is all they have left now -- the party of sleazy, racist, bottom-feeding anti-statesmen.

14. Here's one of my hopes ....
During his first term, Obama has been like Jackie Robinson. He's had to take all kinds of hate in stride. Almost ignore it.

Just to deny these racists a clear shot at calling him an angry black man.

But as we get closer to the 2012 election ... and then maybe after he gets reelected ... I would love to see him really get angry.

Politically, this is not great advice ... at least not before the 2012 ... but after ... if the GOP is like it is now ... I'd love him to squash them.

He may care more about getting things done. But I would love to see him (metaphorically) punch a right wing GOP hack right in the throat.

8. And this bullshit is exactly why he can't (and won't) take their bait.
They'd LOVE for him to lose his cool so they can reassure people that they'll save them from Angry Black Obama.

But he won't.

And the calmer he stays, the more unhinged they will sound as they try to paint him as the scary one.

15. Obama is an angry man. He's an alpha male these days. No way he should tone it down. Republicans
are trying desperately to knock him around for being a big dog. Obama needs to double down. Call their bluff. Show his anger. Of course the GOP would like him to be on valium...that way Obama looks like a pussycat. The Big Dog won a second term because he was the Big Dog. Obama will win too. But only if he shows he has balls. And he did yesterday. And it was good.

Hell, maybe next time instead of "simply a lecture" Pres. Obama will go all out and beat the living crap out of you.

There's no having a reasonable conversation with them.... lecture is what it will always boil down to because thinking is beyond them.

34. Talking with the "no taxes" GOP won't do any good. Take it to the
people and to their districts about what it means to them if the wealthy pay less and less and the middle class pays more and more - that is if they still have a job and make any money.

... then he can get to grips with the problem and focus his attention to it. (these are ADD or ADHD medicines).

Plus, Senator there's better medicine than Valium for relieving anxiety.

Concentrate at the issue at hand. Again, Concentrate.

"(Obama's) plea to raise hundreds of billions of dollars in new taxes on job creators."

yet fail to mention (1) the jet owning corporations have not created jobs and (2)that statistics have already shown over and over a majority of new jobs are coming from SMALL business owners who don't own jets....who would not be hugley impacted and who have already seen assistance to keep their business running and offer employee health insurance.

It's the small businesses that are struggling when the consumer doesn't have two dimes to rub together.
