Bachmann’s Husband Calls Homosexuals ‘Barbarians’ Who ‘Need To Be Educated’ And ‘Disciplined’
By Guest Blogger on Jun 29, 2011 at 4:18 pm

When trying to figure out where presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) gets her stringent, anti-gay views, you only have to look as far as her husband. Dr. Marcus Bachmann, who has described himself as his wife’s “strategist,” runs a Christian-based counseling center in Minnesota that has been rumored to offer reparative treatment for those looking to “ungay” themselves.

Just last summer, Dr. Bachmann explained his position on homosexuality while offering theoretical advice to parents concerned that one of their children was gay.

BACHMANN: We have to understand: barbarians need to be educated. They need to be disciplined. Just because someone feels it or thinks it doesn’t mean that we are supposed to go down that road. That’s what is called the sinful nature. We have a responsibility as parents and as authority figures not to encourage such thoughts and feelings from moving into the action steps…

And let’s face it: what is our culture, what is our public education system doing today? They are giving full, wide-open doors to children, not only giving encouragement to think it but to encourage action steps. That’s why when we understand what truly is the percentage of homosexuals in this country, it is small. But by these open doors, I can see and we are experiencing, that it is starting to increase.

51. Please, it is no longer called 'Spanking' in Christian therapy circles.
It is properly referred to as "Administration of Aggressive Touching Therapy to the Posterior of the Subject".

They get 1000 Euros a session for that in Amsterdam...or so I've been told.

33. Quite disturbing, isn't it?
From what I have read of Ms Bachmann, it appears as though she belongs to a church that teaches women to obey their husbands. If correct, then the obvious question becomes: Why is she running for president?

6. Matt Taibbi's Rolling Stone piece on Bachmann is a must read

Michele Bachmann's Holy WarThe Tea Party contender may seem like a goofball, but be warned: Her presidential campaign is no laughing matter

By MATT TAIBBI

JUNE 22, 2011

Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and, as you consider the career and future presidential prospects of an incredible American phenomenon named Michele Bachmann, do one more thing. Don't laugh.

It may be the hardest thing you ever do, for Michele Bachmann is almost certainly the funniest thing that has ever happened to American presidential politics. Fans of obscure 1970s television may remember a short-lived children's show called Far Out Space Nuts, in which a pair of dimwitted NASA repairmen, one of whom is played by Bob (Gilligan) Denver, accidentally send themselves into space by pressing "launch" instead of "lunch" inside a capsule they were fixing at Cape Canaveral. This plot device roughly approximates the political and cultural mechanism that is sending Michele Bachmann hurtling in the direction of the Oval Office.

Bachmann is a religious zealot whose brain is a raging electrical storm of divine visions and paranoid delusions. She believes that the Chinese are plotting to replace the dollar bill, that light bulbs are killing our dogs and cats, and that God personally chose her to become both an IRS attorney who would spend years hounding taxpayers and a raging anti-tax Tea Party crusader against big government. She kicked off her unofficial presidential campaign in New Hampshire, by mistakenly declaring it the birthplace of the American Revolution. "It's your state that fired the shot that was heard around the world!" she gushed. "You are the state of Lexington and Concord, you started the battle for liberty right here in your backyard."

I said lunch, not launch! But don't laugh. Don't do it. And don't look her in the eyes; don't let her smile at you. Michele Bachmann, when she turns her head toward the cameras and brandishes her pearls and her ageless, unblemished neckline and her perfect suburban orthodontics in an attempt to reassure the unbeliever of her non-threateningness, is one of the scariest sights in the entire American cultural tableau. She's trying to look like June Cleaver, but she actually looks like the T2 skeleton posing for a passport photo. You will want to laugh, but don't, because the secret of Bachmann's success is that every time you laugh at her, she gets stronger.

26. Since I'm gay myself I certainly did not mean to imply that being gay is pathetic.
He is pathetic because he makes his living attempting to bully and brainwash gay people into being straight. It's fairly obvious that he is gay himself but he makes a lot of money saying terrible things about gay people.

10. Bachmann sounds like a softer version of Donnie McClurkin
Obama surrogate McClurkin is infamous for calling for open war on gay people, because he says we are trying to kill children. He says we are vampires and the gloves have to come off. So while it is basically the same message, Bachmann uses barbarian instead of vampire and education instead of violent war on us.
It is a tired old message, GLBT people have heard it all, over and over. Atavistic bigotry is no better from one than from the other. Period.

I think a President Obama struggling with coming out for gay marriage vs civil unions is a good problem to have in light of this kind of bigotry.

Last week someone (can't remember) said they were going to start looking for and interviewing the 23 foster children. When I heard that, I thought, "Leave them alone. They're innocent." Now...I wanna know what kind of damage these two foster "parents" did to those children. Pretty safe bet that out of 23 (28, including their bio kids) at least one was gay. Was he/she "disciplined" in any way that caused long term psychological damage?

Sick fuck. Burn in your hell, asshole.

According to Lawrence O'Donnell, Bubba thinks Michelle Bachmann is so popular because she's so "personable".

Yeah, I'll bet he does. :eyes:

Leave it to DINO Bill to confer legitimacy to Bachmann's appeal and by extension, to her vile excuse of a husband.

I wonder if Paul Ryan has called him yet?
