Ed Show - Howard Dean Says That He Will Support and Campaign Vigorously for the President in 2012
I was wondering why there now some posts now attacking Howard Dean for the failure of HCR, and now I know why. I stand with Dean until he actually supports Democrats, rather than attacks them?

I'm still pissed at Big Ed from this morning so I'm on Ed strike until we both have time to chill out. :)

2. So now progressives are throwing Dean under the bus?
This animosity doesn't make sense.

3. I am also wondering why there are posts advocating Dean for President..
since Dean is apparently going to support President Obama for reelection in 2012..

10. Because they don't care who
is president in 2012 as long as it isn't Obama.

6. Listen more closely...he changed thought mid-sentence.
I thought the same thing at first, but Hissyspit and I both listened again. I don't think Dean realized it this morning.

5. Kind of interesting either way- as it show just how much influence Dean has among the base
and rightly so- as he represents the Democratic wing of the Democratic party.

The administration would do well to bear that in mind.

9. base? what base?
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 10:49 PM by Clio the Leo
theoretically the "cheerleaders" would be at the very heart of that base and, suffice it to say, Dean has managed to single-handedly piss off the cheerleaders .... I cant speak for all of us, but I was all up in the Dean Koolaid a week ago, would STOP what I was doing (which is usually about five things at once) and listen to what he said whenever he was on tv .... now? un-uh .... I respect the man and understand why a great political mind he is but anything he says from now on I'll take with a grain of salt.

this is politics and even if we presume he did what he did because he sincerely wanted to help people, it was a BAD move politically ..... he literally GAVE the GOP an anti-Democratic party soundbite. Crazy.

my problem was not totally WHAT he said, but how he handled it .... you can disagree with the President and criticize the President but to launch a public salvo into the President's agenda like he did .... un uh ... not cute at all.

I'd say it shows how much influence Dean has on the fair-weather supporters because it would take a LOT more than what just ONE guy said in ONE interview to 'cause me to jump ship like a lot of people claim to do (if they were ever ON the ship.)

It's supposed to snow five inches in DC this weekend.

Irony.

12. You're missing the dynamic entirely
As an astute observer noted in 2003- Dean didn't make the movement, the movement made Dean.

He simply stood up and said enough is enough- refused to pander, rolled up his sleeves and decided to fight for traditional Democratic values (which is what leaders do).

11. Good! Because when I came on DU this afternoon
I saw on the front page that Dean didn't know if he would or not..or it wouldn't be enthusiasic.

Nothing is surprising ...bad news all around like a ton of bricks but it will pass.

13. There's a thread over in LBN that say Dean will not vigorously
support Obama in 2012 that has over 220 replies in it. Will this one even make it to the greatest?

Did Dean change his mind or what?

Regardless of that..Is DU hatching some of the least informed Americans now bc of so many latching on to corporatemedia articles and disingenuous leftwing bloggers?

And, we only know he will support and campaign for him bc you heard it on the Ed Show, Tom? I believe you but this is weird.

14. That thread is true...I heard it myself this a.m. on that "Morning Joe" show from Dean's Mouth
I am surprised the OP would put out this thing attacking Dean. He said he'd "support Obama but not vigorously."

I think many here on DU would agree with him...AT THIS POINT. And, surely that point of view has some merit at "THIS POINT"...dontchathink?
