Bachmann's husband got $137,000 in Medicaid funds
While Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., has forcefully denounced the Medicaid program for swelling the "welfare rolls," the mental health clinic run by her husband has been collecting annual Medicaid payments totaling over $137,000 for the treatment of patients since 2005, according to new figures obtained by NBC News.

1. I wish I could get behind this as an issue, but I can't. Our government needs to spend MORE on

mental health issues, not less.

So his mental health clinic has recieved the huge sum of a little over $22,000 per year from Medicaid presumably to treat mental health patients.

I'd rather know how was the money spent, and what was the outcome. Twenty-two K per year seems like a pittance when one contemplates how many people out there are needing a little help.

2. Hypocrisy is the issue here. Can you get behind that?
Bachmann and her husband make money off of Medicaid patients, while she simultaneously advocates slashing Medicaid. It's a red meat issue for her ignorant teabagger base, and she's a self-serving, cynical hypocrite.

3. Do other mental health providers make money off of Medicaid patients?
Or is the entire mental health industry comprised of non-profit enterprises?

I don't like her for a thousand reasons. This is not one of them.

Her husband provides an essential service to those who need it is what I get from this whole story.

6. Then Why Is His Candidate Wife Making Political Points by Bashing Medicaid
For her to campaign on slashing Medicaid funds knowing full well of the societal benefits of such funds is high hypocrisy.

4. More hypocrisy from Bachman
The $161,000 in payments from the Minnesota Department of Human Services to her husband's clinic appear to contradict some of Michelle Bachmann's public accounts this week when she was first asked about the extent to which her family has benefited from government aid. Contacted this afternoon, Alice Stewart, a spokeswoman for Bachmann, said the congresswoman was doing campaign events and was not immediately available for comment.
