Romney has 23% and Bachmann has 22% among likely Republican caucus-goers. They are followed by Herman Cain at 10%, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul at 7%, Tim Pawlenty at 6%, Rick Santorum at 4% and Jon Huntsman at 2%.

"If I were the Pawlenty camp, I would be enormously concerned about this poll," said Jennifer Duffy of the nonpartisan Cook Political Report.

8. I think Romney has it locked but I would be highly amused if Bachmann won the nomination
First off, Sarah Palin would be beside herself with envy and desperation. Secondly, she and whoever had the misfortune to be on the ticket with her (Huntsman perhaps) would go down in flames like none we've ever seen before.

10. we win in either case
romney will split the thugs. his nomination will almost certainly draw a tea bagger opponent in the general election. bachmann is a nutjob. obama will grease her in the debates.

either way they run right now. we win.

14. My Take
Remember at One time In 2007 Romney lead In Iowa Polls. He Is front runner but In dead heat with Bachmann. Not a good sign. This poll
confirms Bachmann could win the Iowa Caucus and becomes the antiRomney.

You have to laugh at Republicans with Herman Cain In third place. They are trying to say hey we aren't racists.

Ginrich and Paul tied for fourth beating Pawlenty,Santorum, and Huntsman. This says there Is more live In their campagins than
Pawlenty,Santorum and media darling Huntsman.

The race will be saken up when Perry announces.I am still doudtful Palin gets In.But If she does that hurts Bachmann.

16. I do not want Bachmann anywhere near the republican nomination.
She is a complete and total nutcase and idiot, and would most likely be destroyed by Obama effortlessly, but even the slim POSSIBILITY of her winning is just too great a risk for this country to bear. I would take Romney over her without the slightest hesitation. Sure, he'd be awful, but Bachmann would be 'Greg motherfucking Stillson' bad.

17. I agree
I also hate to see the US embarrassed on the international stage by someone as out of touch with reality as Bachmann. We had plenty of countries laughing at us over Bush but Bachmann would be even worse. I think we would lose all credibilty on the international front if that idiot ever made it to the White House.
