The Obama charm with a crying baby
Edited on Tue Jun-21-11 05:45 PM by RamboLiberal
Remember how President Barack Obama promised he would heal the planet and make the seas stop rising?

Well, it turns out the president does have a special, magical touch. It's just not with the environment. It's with babies.

The White House recently put out this video of a crying baby whose family had come to see the president. First Lady Michelle Obama couldn't comfort the child, but the second the president held the baby, the crying stopped.

Now, can that magical touch work with the American people a second time around?

http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/bthesite/the-ridiculous-report-blog/bal-the-obama-charm-baby-stops-crying-in-the-presidents-arms-20110621,0,5101780.story

With his daughters in double digits, President Obama probably hasn't had to soothe a sobbing baby for several years.

But in the video below, the Dad-In-Chief looks like a total pro. When a fan gives her crying child to Michelle and the baby wails away, Barack laughs and says, "You better give her back!" But instead Michelle hands the little girl over and much to everyone's shock (especially Michelle -- that facial expression is priceless), the baby immediately stops crying.

President Obama, meanwhile, just bounces the tot around with an "I told you so" smile on his face. Yeah, he's that good.

3. I freakin' love Michele's face. She was like...."Awww...Hell naw!"
That's classic. He does the same for me. I really love my President.

23. And just as funny was the playful look on the President's face
He looked at Michelle with a hilarious mock-smirk that said, "Oh, yeah baby, don't hate me - I so got this . . . "

I love it.

14. LOVE IT -
just love the video!!

It was so cute - and btw - did you see how BO was bouncing with the baby and the first lady just stood there? Not to take anything away from Michelle... BUT... that is soooo ingrained in people that are naturally good with babies.... ya gotta do the bounce to calm them. I usually call it the mama bounce because when you have a fussy baby sometimes the only thing that calms them is the bouncy walk and it's usually the mamas that are up at 3:00 a.m. doing it.... Pres O is a natural - to me, it really does reveal a lot about him... he is a good dad and a good man... say what you want... but he is.. love it.

18. Yeah lighten up because the situation facing this country isn't any more important than that
which can be solved by our "leader" on the back of his baby soothing skills.

Not impressed by baby soothing skills here, thanks. Not impressed in the slightest.

A really good human interest story might include soldiers coming home, jobs being created, people being insured... Babies being soothed at a photo op? Not so fucking much.

Fuck the "lighten up" bullshit. Golf and baby soothing isn't the stuff I imagine a good world leader to be focusing on.

Lighten up? Lighten up as the next Soldier, Marine, or Airman/woman dies because the President is soothing fucking babies and the world will soon be put to right? You're killing me Petey.

Don't lighten up; buckle the fuck down. Don't soothe babies; BRING TROOPS HOME. Soothe THEIR babies by their presence. Nice little "human-interest" stories do not excite me at ALL.

Sorry.

20. You're going to be miserable forever
As long as you live on planet earth. It's not a perfect place.

Even Presidents (who are not God) can't stop that from being so.

When you've died and gone to heaven, you'll be whining to God, I swear.

That's so negative a post you need to up your Prozac prescription (I'm serious and take it myself, so no flames about being insensitive to the depressed).

22. If they don't interest you why are you making such a fuss?
It appears this interests you very much. It appears this touches a deep core of anger that can, at times, be unreasonable. By your definition of "focusing" he should be doing literally nothing until all America's many, many, many problems are solved.

No one has died because a baby liked him.

17. It's just a feel-good story that only took 2 minutes out of Pres Obama's day.

It's better than reading all the Obama bashing stories ;)
