1. There is that approach.

When one is falsely accused, one can just inflate the accusations to a degree of unbelievable absurdity.

In many instances, it's really effective.

He points out their hypocrisy with cool wit. You've got to admire a man who, thwarted, vilified, and lied about at every turn, can remain the 'only adult in the room'.
A part of me wishes he'd blow up but, as he has said (paraphrasing), they can say inflammatory things and it's a news cycle, but when the president says such things, markets react, other countries react -- and what he says has consequences, so he must be careful. Just once though....
