I wonder why no reporter asks Gov. Palin whether she got her idea for this "bus tour" from then First Lady Hillary Clinton's "Save America's Treasures" Tour, which included Gettysburg, as part of the White House Millennium Project. Of course, unlike Palin's jaunt, the First Lady's tour actually had a point.

Certainly someone in the media remembers this tour - in fact, Sanjay Gupta worked for the First Lady at the time and helped out with the tour. Karen Tumulty (Washington Post), Kathy Kiely (National Journal), John Harris (now the editor of Politico) and several other reporters currently on the political beat, actually traveled on the trip with Mrs. Clinton. Why hasn't anyone mentioned this event that Palin is ripping off?

1. Of course it's not new and HRC didn't invent it
It's a version of the classic whistle stop tour. Been around for ages.

2. HRC didn't invent it, but it was not a classic "whistle stop" tour
The purpose of the trip was to highlight America's "treasures" - to focus on treasured landmarks, artifacts and historical sites that were in danger of being destroyed or diminished and needed restoration or support.

Palin is traipsing around claiming that she wants to show America how important these landmarks are - without anyone mentioning that Hillary Clinton actually traveled around years ago to showcase these places and to ensure that they were preserved for posterity. Clinton's efforts were extremely effective and, largely because of her and her efforts, this work is continuing.

4. A rose by any other name is still a whistle stop tour
It's a campaign. Whatever Clinton and Palin want to call it it is still campaigning.

3. Does anybody actually expect the MSM to ask her a challenging question?

5. Political road shows didn't start with Hillary Clinton

Nobody is asking Palin where she got the idea because it's a pretty common tactic.
