Obama, Romney's war chests overflow
http://www.freep.com/article/20110522/NEWS07/105220484/Obama-Romney-s-war-chests-overflow

Frenzied fund-raising by presidential contenders last week underscored the bracing reality of the 2012 campaign: When it comes to money, President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney occupy a plateau far above everyone else.

Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, began the week with a carefully staged fund-raising event that drew $10 million in pledges -- an amount that, even if not fully realized, was a brushback to his opponents.

After a Las Vegas event, the Republican suggested he hasn't ruled out spending some of his own substantial fortune on the campaign, as he did when he ran in 2008.

Even more daunting to competitors: Romney has more than 30 fund-raisers planned before the end of June.

1. Romney is fatally flawed. His health care stuff and the fact that
he's a Mormon. His side will never elect a Mormon.
