president to have gotten bin Laden! And that takes away a whole lot of talking points and memes away from his Repub. opponents.

And he and his family are still cooler than any competitor he might have. ;)

1. Republicans cannot keep America safe. They do not love America
It is treason to go against the commander in chief in a time of war.

(Just testing out the talking points)

2. And those things are exactly what were said in the past elections.
But they won't work this time on Obama, and the Dems. won't stoop that low against Repubs. I'd almost like to see some 3rd party Dem. groups try, though. :)

3. The GOP has nothing on him when it comes to foreign policy.
Now if he can prevent the GOP from enacting all their economy-killing measures on the state and local levels, the economy should continue to creep up and he will win another term without breaking a sweat!

:hi:

11. I've been thinking of the 2004 election...
Remember how they used terrorism throughout the campaign to distract any attention away from Kerry. The day after the Dem. convention when we should have been basking in the success of it (especially with bright shiny new Obama as key note!) and they issued a huge terror threat that shut down NYC and kept the news media focussed on it. THIRTEEN times during the campaign they pulled this crap, with OBL tapes, etc...then it all stopped abruptly AFTER the election.

What if Obama had kept OBL at bay and hauled him out the day after the republican convention??? I'm glad he's not that sleazy...but would have been funny!!

13. It all will depend on the economy and the Republican nominee.
Bush senior had close to a 90% approval rating after the Gulf war and he still lost to Bill Clinton. Carville's famous sign that he hung in the '92 war room is even more prescient today than then: It's the economy, stupid.

On the other hand, if the Republicans are dumb enough to nominate a Tea Partier, their goose would be cooked regardless of the economic situation next year.

:-)

18. Actually I dont either matters at this point.. as long as the economy does not collapse like in 08..
Obama wins. Latest polls show most voters do not blame Obama for the economic mess we are in now... they blame Bush and the republicans.

16. He and his family being "cooler" doesn't and isn't going to mean shit.
Edited on Thu May-12-11 08:02 PM by BlueIris
He is still the creator and defender of failed policies that he won't have the stamina or ability to rationalize on the campaign trail. Image won't matter in the face of those obstacles.

20. My "wink" after that statement meant is wasn't meant to be taken too seriously.
But he DID get bin Laden, wiping out a lot of RW talking points. AND, he has also been able to keep many promises he made on the campaign trail. You can choose to focus on the negatve and even vote for the Repub. if it makes you feel better, but he has done a lot of good, too.

21. Yup. I wish some Dem. group would run ads showing video clips of Bush saying he didn't
really think about bin Laden any more, and other quotes.
